Aesop’s Fables--A Multimedia, Multiple Intelligences Project
The Task:
To create a multi-media, multi-sensory project based on two related Aesop’s fables-- De Mure Urbano et Mure Rustico
and De Equo et Asino. You will be using both your Latin skills and outside interests!
You will be working as a trio (Interpersonal) and will earn the same grade for all parts except the personal
reflection.
The steps:

PREPARATION/PRACTICE

Read the introduction and notes to the two fables--you may use your text pp. 14-17 and pp. 82-85 or
the online version.
 Read the fables aloud TWICE independently. You may wish to listen to the fables in the on-line version
as well.
 Retype each fable quadruple-spaced.
 Independently, write a translation of the fables paying careful attention to grammar and syntax on the
typed version you created in step III.
 Working with your partners, refine and perfect your translations of the fables.

WRITTEN TRANSLATION COMPONENT (Verbal-Linguistic)
Create a flawless, elegant, nuanced typed1 translation of the fables.
This will be turned in the day of the presentation.
PRESENTATION (to Ms. Fusco and Honors Latin Seminar)

LITERAL
Read the fables aloud with great drama, flair, accuracy of pronunciation, and expressiveness.
Present accurate, elegant, and nuanced translations of the fables.



Visual/Spatial: collages, illustrations (original or researched), props, costumes
Auditory/Musical: background music (live or recorded) or illustrative (e.g., Peter and the Wolf)
Dramatic/Body/Kinesthetic: enact part of one fable
Written:
Write a moral for each fable in Latin with an English translation.
Relate a fable to an incident or issue in the contemporary world.
Write individual reflections about what you learned, both personally and academically, while
accomplishing this project. Be sure to specifically reference at least six components of The Vision
of the Graduate.
