The unit, known as Rady Children’s at Palomar Medical Center, is comprised of 17 pediatric and 12 neonatal intensive care beds. PPH has operated the pediatric services at Palomar Medical Center for more than 45 years however, the partnership with Rady Children’s is expected to further strengthen these programs. “We’ve found that families with children that could stay at Palomar Medical Center are driving more than 20 miles south to Rady Children’s for care,” said Gerald Bracht, chief administrative officer, Palomar Medical Center. “With this partnership we hope to assure parents that they will receive the same high level of medical and neonatal care available at Rady Children’s without having to drive far away from where they live.” “Palomar Medical Center already has an excellent record of caring for pediatric patients,” said Meg Norton, chief operating officer at Rady Children’s. “This partnership represents an exciting opportunity for both institutions to build on each other’s strengths and extend exceptional medical care to even more children in North County.” Under the agreement, PPH will transfer operations and management of the pediatric and neonatal care units to Rady Children’s.
