Medico-legal Experience
I have been involved in medico-legal work for over 10 years,
preparing reports both for defence and prosecution, covering
subjects from personal injury to medical negligence, and
specialising in the aesthetic arena and GP Medical Negligence. I
have been called as an expert witness to appear in Court on several
occasions.

We have a state-of-the art Dermatology suite, specialising in

cosmetic injectables, of which I am the Clinical Director.

I became proficient in the use of a variety of medical grade
lasers, including Pulsed Dye, Copper Bromide, Alexandrite, Ruby,
Nd/Yag, CO2, Erbium and KTP. I also developed expertise in
dermal fillers, facial peeling techniques and the cosmetic use of
botulinum toxin.
1999 – Current Clinical Director and consulting Cosmetic
Physician to MediZen Clinics Limited, Birmingham
MediZen specialises in aesthetic rejuvenation of the face and body.
My areas of interest are in botulinum toxin therapy for facial
rejuvenation and for the treatment of hyperhidrosis and migraine,
facial fillers and facial volume restoration, collagen stimulation
therapy, laser and radiofrequency facial rejuvenation and acne
management. Topical antioxidant skin therapy and prescription
skin rejuvenation is another area of interest. We have a dedicated
Clinical Trials Unit and Training Suite at the clinic. The clinic was
awarded ‘National Clinic of the Year’ in February 2008, and
‘Midlands Small Business of the Year’ 2008 and 2009.

This appointment requires me to train, assess and improve the
competency and injection techniques of fellow practitioners, by a
combination of lectures, workshops, clinical demonstration
‘MasterClasses’ and medical meetings. I have presented and
trained all over Europe and further afield, including Turkey, South
Africa, Saudi Arabia and the USA.

Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers
My use of botulinum toxin dates back to 1995, when I was trained
by Mr Dev Basra, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, a pioneer of the
toxin’s cosmetic use. I have also received personal tuition from
Professors Jean and Alistair Carruthers of Canada, acknowledged
as the first to describe the cosmetic potential of the drug, Professor
Timothy Flynn (USA), one of the most respected and experienced
users in the world, Dr Mauricio de Maio (Brazil), one of the world’s
most highly regarded aesthetic surgeons, and Dr Koenraad de
Boulle, a world-renowned dermatologist based in Belgium, on the
use of toxins and fillers in facial aesthetics.
I have over 17 years of experience in the use of a wide range of
dermal fillers, including Radiesse, Sculptra and a wide range of
Hyaluronic Acid fillers.
Since 1998, I have trained over a thousand doctors in the cosmetic
and other uses of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers, both at a
basic and advanced level, and travelled widely in Europe and
beyond, lecturing and training on the subject.
I have been a member of the British Association of Cosmetic
Doctors since 2003, now renamed the British College of Aesthetic
Medicine, and a previous President of the Society of Cosmetic
Physicians and Surgeons
Clinical Trials
Since 1992 I have participated as a lead investigator in numerous
clinical trials, at both pre-and post-marketing stages, covering
many therapeutic areas. These include:
1) A comparative study of Dysport and Botox in the treatment
of glabella frown lines – 2004
2) A study to assess effectiveness of a hand-held blue LED light
device in the treatment of facial acne vulgaris – 2006
3) A double-blind placebo controlled study on a novel
botulinum toxin, Xeomin, in the treatment of crows feet –

4) A study using human allogeneic fibroblast transplantation in
the treatment of facial scars – 2008
5) A comparative study of Botox and Xeomin in the treatment

I have chaired meetings and training courses at a local, national
and international level, and am regularly asked to speak at
conferences all over the world.

I live with my wife and two children in a converted barn in the
English Midlands. I enjoy walking, natural history, food and wine,
