The Putnam County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on
June 1, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Courthouse Annex. The pledge to the
flag was given.
HIGHWAY
Gene Beck stated that the Highway Department started working on a
bridge north of 236. James Baird stated that they have started to clean
ditches.
PLANNING/EMA
Kim Hyten, Planning and Zoning Director discussed the requirements for
the new phone system. Gene beck stated that he would like to have the
grounding system added to the bid request. Kim would like for the new
system to be compatible between all of the departments (E911, Jail &
Courthouse). The Commissioners would like to have the bid deadline
July 2, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.
Kim discussed a Supplemental Agreement #2 with ACE. Kim stated that
this is to get the Comprehensive Plan finished. Kim’s goal is to get done
by July. Jim made the motion to approve the change. Gene seconded.
Kim handed out information on Charter Services which is the pest
control company that the Jail uses. Jim made the motion to table, Gene
seconded for further review.
Kim discussed the possibility of selling part of the county home land.
Mr. Hyten drew some different parcels that can be sold off and variances
etc. that would need to be done.
Harold Pateaw asked if anyone is going to be replacing Dave Sutherlin.
Gene stated that there are two individuals that are taking his place, Jim
Smith and Clint Maddox.
SHERIFF
The Sheriff’s Department asked that the county give a retiring deputy
there gun. Doug stated that they would like it to be more then 10 years
they would like for it to be 15 years. Gene also asked that they postpone
there inspection till a later time.
Doug Nally, Deputy Sheriff discussed new software for book in at the
Jail. Scott Hoff suggested that there be an expiration date and term date
in the contract. Gene made the motion for Scott Hoff to have the
expiration date and termination date put into the contract and contract
approved. James Baird seconded. The motion carried.
COUNTY HOME
Shirley VanHook stated that there is one resident that is moving out this
weekend and two that are going to Hendricks county. That leaves two
left. Scott Hoff stated that at some point 30 days before they close it
they have to send out notification and to the state also. James Baird
stated that he would like for Scott Hoff to review the FSSA paperwork
and to take action on it.
PROBATION
Teresa Parrish, Adult Probation and Judge Denny Bridges of Superior
Court asked for a part time position in Probation and that it would be
filled by James Hardwick. This position would be paid from the
probation user funds and he would be teaching classes that Community
Corrections no longer teaches. Teresa stated that Judge Headley would
also like Mr. Hardwick to teach Juvenile classes also. James Baird made
a motion to approve the part time request. Gene Beck seconded. The
motion carried.
SOMEDAY FARMS SUBDIVISION
Kim discussed a one lot sub called Someday Farms Subdivision. This
has been through a plan commission meeting in May. Gene Beck made
the motion to approve. James Baird seconded. The motion carried.
QUIT CLAIM DEED
James Baird made the motion to approve the Quit Claim Deed for Donald
Gedert and Kathryn Gedert. Gene Beck seconded. The motion carried.
CLAIMS
Gene Beck made a motion to approve the claims (regular and
emergency). James Baird seconded. The motion carried.
PAYROLL
James Baird made a motion to approve May 29, 2009 payroll. Gene
Beck seconded. The motion carried.
WCSW
James Baird made a motion to approve for Terry Jones with WCSW to do
the paperwork for the co to get reimbursed ????? Ask gene more info….
Gene Beck seconded. The motion carried.
MAIL
Gene Beck made a motion to acknowledge the mail. Jim Baird seconded
the motion. The motion carried.
