Michigan Business & Professional Association Announces This Year’s
101 Best and Brightest Companies To Work For™ In Metropolitan Detroit
Sept. 25, 2013, Warren, Mich. — Top talent in Michigan is becoming a limited resource.
Companies that want to succeed in this economy are dedicated to their employees and best
practices in human resources. Only 101 companies that have demonstrated exceptional
commitment will be honored by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA)
and named “Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For™.”
The 101 winners will be celebrated at a luncheon on Wednesday, October 30 at the Henry Hotel
located at 300 Town Center Drive in Dearborn. The winning 101 companies also compete for 12
elite awards, one granted for each category. Also, an overall winner that has excelled in all
categories will be honored with a “Best of the Best Overall” award. The elite award winners will
be revealed during the luncheon.
An independent research firm evaluates each company’s entry based on key measures in various
categories. They include Compensation, Benefits and Employee Solutions; Employee
Enrichment, Engagement and Retention; Employee Education and Development; Recruitment,
Selection and Orientation; Employee Achievement and Recognition; Communication and Shared
Vision; Diversity and Inclusion; Work-Life Balance; Community Initiatives; Strategic Company
Performance and the Best of the Best Small Business. (See following list of winners.)
The annual human resources symposium and awards program will begin with registration,
networking and an exhibit gallery at 7:30 a.m. Educational workshops will follow at 8:30 a.m.
The topics of this year’s sessions will include “An Untapped Talent Pool: Veterans, Disabled and
The Mature Worker,” “The Virtual Office: Achieving Productivity and a Work Life Balance,”
“Growing FAST & FURIOUS – not for the Faint of Heart” and “Strategies to Retain Your Best
and Brightest Employees.” Jay Farner, president and CMO of Quicken Loans, will present the
keynote address. The luncheon and awards ceremony begin at 11 a.m.
“The selection, recognition and awarding of this year’s 101 companies allows our organization to
showcase their best practices. The honorees have clearly demonstrated why each of them would
be an ideal place for employees to work. Companies that capitalize on their greatest resource—
their employees—know how to attract and retain top talent,” said Jennifer Kluge, MBPA
president.
