Previous Breeders Crown start: finished 5th in 2008 elimination

Margarita Momma captured her Breeders Crown elimination in 1:54.1, drawing off impressively for driver Ron
Pierce by two and ¾ lengths.

“Margarita Momma beat some very nice fillies out there tonight,” remarked Pierce. “I was very happy with her. Mr.
Johnson made some changes for this track, and it really helped her along. This filly has always been tough,” he
added. “At two she was as tough as they came. I don’t think I’ve ever raced a 2-year-old trotting filly nearly as
tough as she was. I give Jan Johnson a lot of credit; he was able to get her back on her toes every week. He’s
done a great job with this filly.”

Margarita Momma is trained and co-owned by Jan Johnson with Jorgen Jahre of Sandefjord, Norway. She is
coming off a career mark of 1:53.4 in her $86,400 Bluegrass Stakes victory on Oct. 9 and has racked up a total of
five wins in 10 tries as a sophomore, including victories in her $38,400 NJSS elim and $200,000 Final in May at
The Meadowlands.

Longtime owner Jahre had told announcer Sam McKee last year that Margarita Momma was the best two-yearold trotting filly he’s owned. “She’s a bit slower this year, I’ve not been in the winner’s circle before now, but I’m
extremely happy, she’s a good filly, I’m thrilled. We’re looking forward to the Breeders Crown.”

A $50,000 yearling purchase, Margarita Momma is the second foal from Sheena Hall whose second dam is a full
sister to the great two-time Breeders Crown champion Grades Singing.

Momma takes her Breeders Crown elim
Trainer Jan Johnson, 58, a native of Bollnas, Sweden,
has been training horses for four decades, and is
equally adept on the training track and in a race. The
multi-talented driver-trainer has harnessed 319
winners to $11,508,385 in earnings and has steered
778 trotters and pacers to the winner’s circle for
$13,625,680.

Owner Jahre has one Breeders Crown championship
to his credit, when his Stroke Play captured the 2003,
$250,000 3-Year-Old Filly Trot Final. He has $613,761
in Crown earnings from 14 starters that also include
one second place finisher and a pair of show finishers.

Breeders Robert & Michelle Goodman of Kentucky are looking for their first Breeders Crown trophy. The couple
have bred and owned horses for two decades.
