Green News

Spring Edition

Welcome to the Spring Edition of the Glengarry-

Prescott-Russell Green News. Spring signifies the birth of many things, and we’re hoping that this year it will signal a re-energizing of the Green Party activities in this riding.

New Blood

At the Annual General Meeting held on January 14 th ,

2009, Richard Kerr stepped down from his position as Chief Execution Officer. Richard founded and led this riding association for over thirteen years; through

5 federal elections and 4 provincial elections. We thank you for your unwavering dedication to the

Green Party.

Francine Portenier was elected as the Chief Executive

Officer (CEO) of the riding association. Francine lives on a small farm near Vars, with her husband and 2

Canadian horses. She is passionate about working to make this corner of the world more sustainable.

Patricia Kerr is continuing on as our Financial Agent.

Sylvie Lemieux, who ran so ably as our Candidate in the October 2008 federal election, is volunteering as the Membership Chair.

Jacques Brunet was appointed as the

Communications and Technology Chair. He will also be working to set up a web site for the riding and keep us on the cutting edge of online communications technology.

New Vision Statement

After the dust settled from last year’s federal election, members in our riding got together to identify a new vision that describes what we want to see happening within our riding over the next 4 years.

This is what we came up with:

Vision Statement for

2008 -2012:

To have a committed group of Green Party members in the Glengarry-Prescott-

Russell riding that works year round identifying and implementing Green Party policies in the riding.

To create a strong and prosperous base of support for the Green Party candidate in the riding.

To be ready to win the riding seat in a federal election.

We are also working on an Action Plan to accomplish this Vision. We, the executives, would like to discuss this with you at the next general meeting.

General Meeting on April 7, 2009

Come on out and have a say in what your Green

Party will do. We’re going to be discussing an Action

Plan for this year to bring us closer to our vision.

Your ideas are very important, so come on out. You may even meet Mr. EarthHead!
