Date: June 2012 Dear Colleague Paediatric Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Support – who needs what, when and how? It gives me great pleasure to announce that we are planning to celebrate 25 years of successful Paediatric Heart and Lung Transplantation by hosting a Scientific Conference on Thursday 11th October 2012 from 9:15 am – 4:15pm. We invite you to join us at the Institute of Transplantation at Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne for an update on cardiac transplantation and mechanical support for the paediatric and GUCH groups. The Conference will focus on what has been achieved and what is currently achievable with the challenges of reducing donor numbers, an increasing failing single ventricle population and rapid changes in mechanical support. This event is designed for all paediatric cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, adult congenital cardiologists, paediatric intensivists, paediatric cardiac anaesthetists, cardiac liaison nurses and those managing transplant patients. CPD points will be awarded for attendance and a number of young transplant adults will be available to discuss their experiences and answer questions throughout the day. Please find attached the Conference Programme. If you require accommodation we have negotiated a conference room (B&B) rate of £75 at The Jury’s Inn Central, Newcastle and £131 Jesmond Dene House Hotel. To reserve a room, please call the Jury’s Inn Reservation Team on 0191 201 4400 or Jesmond Dene House Hotel on 0191 212 3000 and quote the event you are attending. All rooms are subject to availability. We do hope that you will be able to join us. If you are able to do so, please complete the booking form and return to our Event Coordinator Mrs Carol Olley.
