RATIONALE: The students are introduced to specific two and three dimensional areas
because of the limited time allotted for class.
GOALS:
l. To develop a basic understanding of the three-dimensional area of clay.
2. To work with the basic elements of color composition.
3. To relate the visual arts to everyday life.
4. To foster consideration and cooperation in the class activities.
5. To apply art history as is appropriate to the areas of study.
6. To incorporate subjective and objective tests in the selected areas of study.
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE:
Upon completion of this class, students will be exposed to and demonstrate
proficiencies/skills in the following conceptual areas:
ART CURRICULUM: GRADE 8
RATIONALE: The students are introduced to a multi-media concept in art to foster
further interest and study in the area of art.
GOALS:
l. To develop a basic understanding of one point perspective.
2. To develop a further knowledge of the ceramic area.
3. To expose students to a wide range of art media.
4. To incorporate subjective and objective tests in the selected areas of study.
5. To foster consideration and cooperation in the class activities.
6. To apply art history as is appropriate to the areas of study.
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE:
Upon completion of the course, students will be exposed to and demonstrate
proficiencies/skills in the following conceptual areas:
ART I: GRADES 9-12
RATIONALE: To introduce the students to the basic fundamentals of two and three
dimensional design and composition in the two and three dimensional areas.
GOALS:
l. To show students art is a process of development, awareness, and sensitivity to their
surroundings increase.
2. To develop an understanding of two-dimensional design and composition.
3. To develop an understanding of selected three-dimensional media.
4. To foster a deeper interest and appreciation of the art area through the study of art
history as it pertains to the selected areas.
5. To provide opportunities for creative expression.
6. To incorporate objective and subjective tests in selected areas of study.
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE:
Upon completion of this class, students will be exposed to and demonstrate
proficiencies/skills in the following conceptual areas:
ART II: GRADES 10-12
RATIONALE: The students will discover the more creative aspect of the art area
through the introduction of the studio arts. The painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramic
areas will take on the more personal aspect of self expression.
GOALS:
l. To introduce the students to the studio arts.
2. To incorporate the two dimensional design and composition basics into painting on
canvas.
3. To provide more opportunities for creative expression.
4. To emphasize the need for more personal self expression in the finished product.
5. To develop the 3/D area further with introduction of manipulation sculpture.
6. To provide a study of art history as pertinent to the art fields emphasized.
7. To incorporate objective and subjective tests in selected areas.
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE:
Upon completion of this class, students will be exposed to and demonstrate
proficiencies/skills in the following conceptual areas:
ART III GRADES 11-12
RATIONALE: The students will be involved with the more complex manners of self
expression in the studio arts. Through their growth and experience the quality of self
expression will produce a more refined art product.
GOALS:
1. To intensify the study of the studio arts.
2. To provide for a wider range of media areas.
3. To instigate more in-depth study in the two and three
dimensional areas.
4. To encourage experimentation through various materials in combinations to develop
different creative products.
5. To develop written project proposals for selected areas of study.
6. To provide a study of art history as pertinent to the area emphasized.
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE:
Upon completion of this class, students will be exposed to and demonstrate
proficiencies/skills in the following conceptual areas:
ART IV GRADE 12
RATIONALE: The advanced student will be introduced to the art area as a career
choice. They will study the more commercial aspects of art production and application.
GOALS:
1. To involve the student in the career aspect of art.
2. To promote the refinement and development of learned skills in their special interest
areas.
3. To investigate commercial aspects of the art area.
4. To do in-depth studies in their special interest areas.
5. To apply art history as is applicable to the areas of study.
6. To develop written project proposals for selected areas of study.

Upon completion of this class, students will be exposed to and demonstrate
proficiencies/skills in the following conceptual areas:
