Job Summary:
Responsible for producing designs that enable the continued evolution and expansion of the
TSYS International IT infrastructure to support new clients and new services in line with TSYS
International IT technical standards and Corporate Strategic direction.
Provide high-quality specialist technical consultancy to both internal and external clients when
required, facilitating the delivery of solution designs involving teams from different technical and
business disciplines.
The scope of the design output produced by the Infrastructure Solutions Designer may include
(but will not be limited to): High level solutions designs, Client-specific solution designs, Highlevel network designs, High-level systems designs, operational model designs, security designs,
firewall rule requests, network and server/OS selection, configuration recommendations, Access
Management configurations, middleware designs, application development recommendations
and tools recommendations.
Additionally, the Infrastructure Solutions Designer is responsible for reviewing detailed server
and network designs and all final system configurations associated with allocated projects.
Key Responsibilities:





Initial infrastructure technical lead on internal and customer driven projects as assigned,
including researching, presenting and discussing technical issues at customer meetings.
Attend client meetings, liaise with client, internal and third-party technical staff, analyse
function and non-function infrastructure requirements and develop IT infrastructure
solutions for business case input.
Produce design documentation with input and review from other areas within TSYS for
architectural approval.
Oversee lab-testing and pre-live testing of new infrastructure solutions, in association
with the TSYS International IT support teams and any interested TSYS US IT teams.
Provide authoritative technical consultancy to the TSYS International Business
Expansion Team in the pursuit of new platforms, products and clients. This will include
contributing to RFP documents, attending and presenting at client discovery meetings
and assisting in specifying the solution offerings.















Work with the TSYS International Assessment and Consulting Teams to research and
analyse functional and non-functional infrastructure requirements, technical options and
TSYS capabilities to find the optimum solutions designs – advising on applicationinfrastructure integration issues where necessary.
Produce high level IT Infrastructure Solution Design documentation and costings for new
platforms, services, major new client requirements as well as changes to existing
services.
Represent assigned design projects at internal approval meetings (OPS WAM,
Architecture Review, ITEC & IDC) as necessary.
Work with the managers of the System and Network Design and Build Teams to deliver
detailed system & network design documentation for assigned design projects.
Review final systems/server configurations associated with assigned design projects and
oversee the installation & configuration of any completely new IT infrastructure to ensure
Solutions Designs and detailed designs reflect the reality of the platform.
Produce client facing documentation for assigned projects and services where
necessary.
Define and maintain standards, policies, templates and procedures for TSYS
International Infrastructure Design and Build team activities, as assigned by the
Manager, Infrastructure Solutions.
Design and propose technical controls, security solutions and processes to ensure
TSYS meets it’s compliance requirements and assist the Compliance, Risk and
Information Security teams in preparing for and responding to technical audits from PCI,
client and internal auditors.
Provide technical training to technical and non-technical TSYS International team
members, both one-to-one and in a “class” environment. Includes developing training
plans and creating training materials (slides, demonstrations, etc)
Liaise with various operational areas within TSYS and TSYS International to agree
operational models and high-level procedures for new platforms and services.
Assist the Manager, Infrastructure Architecture by reviewing future strategy of the TSYS
International production IT infrastructure in line with the Corporate Technical
Architecture.
Contribute to supplier RFP & tender process for large projects where appropriate
Ensure skills and knowledge are updated by attending appropriate courses, using
reference material, internet resources and vendor sponsored seminars
Participate in the personal development scheme under the guidance of the line manager
Any other responsibilities commensurate with the role or as assigned by the line
manager

Education and Experience
Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or equivalent experience

Leadership in a matrix management environment

Experience in an IT infrastructure operational environment.

High-level understanding of all aspects of the card-processing business:
issuing, acquiring, security, credit, debit, switching, authorisations, clearing
and settlement, etc.
