Burn Permit Information Same day permits: Burn Permits are required for all burning including but not limited to: brush piles, campfires, cooking fires, chimineas and fire pits. To obtain a same day permit: 1. Monday thru Friday: a. 8 AM to 4 PM stop in or call the fire station at 672-8531 b. 8 AM to 2 PM stop at the town hall and see Rena 2. Burn permits will not be given to anyone under 18 years old 2. Burn permits will only be issued to the property owner unless the permittee has written permission from the landowner 3. The fire is to be a minimum of 50’ from any building 4. Nothing over 5” in diameter is to be burned 5. If it is not raining, you may not burn between 9 AM and 5 PM. You may burn after 5 PM only with a permit issued for that day and only if the State Fire Danger allows it 6. If it is raining, you may burn with a permit between 9 AM and 5 PM 7. You must be able to extinguish the fire with water 8. Winter Rule: Burning is allowed anytime as long as there is a measurable snow cover. You must contact Hollis Communications at 465-3636 prior to burning. Seasonal permits: Seasonal Burn Permits can only be issued by the town Fire Warden. For the initial permit, please contact Forest Fire Warden, Charles Corey Sr. at 673-4058 Seasonal permit renewals can be obtained at the fire station by contacting either Scott Knowles or Polly Duprez at 672-8531 Fires using a seasonal permit must follow the same rules for the same day permits A seasonal permit is for a fire bowl, chiminea or an area not greater than 2’in diameter contained within a ring of fire resistive material or in a portable fireplace.
