Shelton Bady; BA, MBA, MA of Biblical Studies

Shelton Bady, a native of Saginaw, Michigan, grew up in a two-parent, eleven children family
where strong convictions concerning the people and things of God, hard work, and integrity were
cornerstone principles in shaping the fiber of his character. Evidenced today in his many
commitments, these cornerstone principles are key in his role as pastor of Harvest Time Church,
Houston, Texas; Chief Executive Officer for Harvest Time Evangelistic Center; Bishop over The
Preparation Fellowship; National/International Evangelist frequenting countries of Ghana,
Kenya, Nigeria, England, Honduras, Jamaica; Board Member for the American Red Cross
National Diversity Advisory Council; National Mercy Ships meeting attendee; Founder of the
Shelton Bady Foundation focusing on HIV/Aids, Childhood Obesity, and Poverty, Community
Activist serving on North Houston Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce and other local advisory
boards; television host on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and DayStar network. With
such diverse roles, +Shelton Bady is a multi-faceted leader who is also a father, mentor, and friend
to many.
While on any given Sunday, one may hear Bishop Bady leading the congregation in the
confession of Harvest Time Church’s core values, “We exist for God’s glory; Evangelism is our
#1 priority”, these core values are nothing new for this inspiring man of God. Long before titles,
degrees, and national pulpits and platforms, as a student at the University of Texas; Austin,
Texas, +Shelton Bady passionately initiated crusades in the park where he would preach the good
news that Jesus saves to anyone who would listen. Crowds gathered to hear him speak and watch
his signature mark exuberant dancing praise unto the Lord. That passion for souls and praising
God continues to ignite the atmosphere of Harvest Time Church, located in the Greenspoint
Community, where Bishop Bady challenges thousands on a weekly basis to live according to the
word of God thus fulfilling vision “to make ready a people prepared for the Lord” Luke 1:17.
Capturing the significance of the community location of Harvest Time Church further illuminates
the essence of Bishop Bady. Bishop Bady, knowing that he had heard from God, followed a
vision that many could not understand, statistics deemed improbable, and popular opinion
concluded illogical; and, he has reaped the results of witnessing the positive impact that Harvest
Time Church has on the Greenspoint Community and the surrounding areas.

COMMUNITY CULTURE:
o Crime and Violence- Violent crimes, drug related crimes, gang activity,
inappropriate establishments have decreased in the community as evidenced by
statistics and community feedback. A night club that was located across the
street closed down shortly after the arrival of HTC ministry in the community.

CRISIS:
o
Tropical Storm Allison, 2001- President Bush in 2001 declared Harris County a
federal disaster area as a result of Allison.Harvest Time Church served as the
service site for Red Cross. Joint efforts of the Red Cross, Harvest Time Church
staff, and members included meeting the short term housing, nutritional and
financial needs of Houstonians affected by this disaster.
o
Hurricane Katrina, 2005 – Hurricane Katrina of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane
season was the costliest hurricane, as well as one of the five deadliest, in the
history of the United States( ref. Wikipedia). HTC’s response to this crisis
included a Housing program through the Shelton Bady foundation to offer
temporary housing to Louisiana residents that found themselves in Greens-point
after the Hurricane displaced them from their homes.

Hurricane Ike, 2008 –Hurricane Ike was the third most destructive hurricane to
ever make landfall in the United States. (ref Wikipedia) On Sunday, September
14th, one day after the Hurricane made landfall, HTC response to this crisis
included a non-traditional church service in which non-perishable foods, donated
by HTC members, was served to families of the Greens-point community. The
initiative and preparedness demonstrated by Harvest Time Church allowed
FEMA to quickly setup a POD (point of distribution) site, the first in Harris
County. 50,000+ were served with Water, Ice and non-perishable foods in the
days following the disaster.

CONTINUOSLY: Day to Day

Daily- The daily services and assistance provided by HTC address the 5 aspects
of man: Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Social, and Financial. Requests include
prayer and counseling, financial assistance, emergency food assistance, angel
food ministry, employment, community service, shelter, bus voucher, facility
rentals etc. A weekly log evidences the number of people who utilize HTC as a
resource for daily living.

Through collaborative efforts with community organizations, 300+ youth (and
parents) are served weekly in a various sporting activities. Harvest Community
Center (HCC) serves a safe, supervised alternative to loitering on street corners
and inappropriate activity. In addition, HCC’s fitness and exercise facility
fulfills the fitness needs of hundreds of church members and several corporate
employees who work in the area.

Harvest Christian Academy (HCA) serves 90+ children daily. This affordable
yet desirable service to the community allows children to be served within the
HCA’s vision to train, equip and inspire our children to become productive adults
and effective witnesses for the glory of God.

Harvest Community Center (HCC) offers an opportunity to fulfill community
service requirements on a weekly basis. Emphatically, the youth are fulfilling
these requirements have opportunity to experience God’s presence, His people,
and an opportunity to start again.
Countless testimonies continue to be told by various individuals who have been touched,
encouraged, and pulled out of harm’s way because Harvest Time Church exists and continues to
give spiritual direction, education, and inspiration to the Greenspoint Community and
surrounding area.
