Degree program: MSc e-learning Qualification awarded: Informatics Admission requirements: Eligible candidates should posses: BSc in Computer Science, Information Technologies, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics and Informatics or related fields. In this case the duration of the program is 3 semesters (full time) or 5 semesters (part time). BSc in Educational Sciences or other fields, provided that they have basic knowledge and skills in IT and educational technologies. In this case the duration of the program is 4 semesters (full time) The selection of candidates is based on an entry exam (in the form of test and interview) and the final grade from the BSc level of study. The Program is particularly useful for university and high school teachers who want to go beyond the boundaries of the traditional education and extend their teaching with e-learning elements; for specialists in training and HRD departments in companies, governmental or non-governmental organizations; for managers at different levels in education and training institutions; for any individual, wanting to build life long learning skills. Goals The aim of the Program is to prepare specialists able to design and develop high quality e-learning solutions for education and training. Educational Professional Graduates of the Program will be able to design and develop fully functional and market-oriented elearning programs at different levels. The Program approaches e-learning from different perspectives - pedagogical, technological and organization/management. To build a new generation of designers and developers of high quality elearning solutions. Graduates of the program can find professional realization as designers and developers of technical, educational and organizational elearning solutions in educational institutions at secondary or higher level, HRD departments, consultancy providers in all sectors – governmental, NGOs, private companies. Access to further studies Graduates of the program can continue their education in other MSc or PhD programs in the field of Information technologies, education, management. More specifically, they can continue their specialization in one or more of the different aspects of the program: pedagogical, technological, organization and management. Examination and assessment regulations Successful completion of each course includes: assignments during the course, exam and/or course project. Final examination: Preparation and defense of a Masters thesis. Technical facilities The program uses part of the facilities of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics – lecture rooms, computer labs, laptops, projection systems, flipchart, laser printers, scanners, libraries, software, etc. The courses are integrated in the open source elearning platform MOODLE (http://edusoft.fmi.unisofia.bg/moodle/), which is installed on a server at FMI and is maintained by the Department of IT. In MOODLE the instructional processes are structured, the main course materials and resources are integrated and student activities are explained and supported by additional materials, where necessary. In this ways the materials are accessible any time from anywhere. Research areas The research activities are directed towards current problems in issues in the area of elearning and their state-ofthe art solutions.
