Saint Paul’s Community Foundation Scholarship Administered by the Saint Paul’s Community Foundation Dear Applicant: The Saint Paul’s Community Foundation is an agent of tomorrow functioning today to make a difference in the world. We believe ourselves to be agents of God’s resources and witnesses to God’s goodness. The foundation’s ultimate goal is to bring honor and praise to God which is achieved through its funding of exceptional and pacesetting programs of The Saint Paul’s Baptist Church and its corporate affiliates. This year we are pleased to offer a minimum of 20 scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies for the 2014-2015 academic year. The Foundation’s scholarships are not based on financial need but on academic excellence. Scholarships will be awarded to successful candidates who have met all requirements and will be awarded during a banquet in June. Applications may be secured by visiting our website at www.saintpaulscommunityfoundation.org or the Saint Paul’s church office. The following is a list of requirements which are mandatory in order to be considered for a scholarship. Please read this information carefully and provide all required documentation. Use the following checklist to ensure a completed application is submitted. REQUIREMENTS A sealed official transcript showing you have maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA. A 3.0 GPA is required for returning graduate school applicants. Applicant must be a member in good standing with St. Paul’s Baptist Church for at least one (1) year. (Verification will be determine by completion of new member training, right hand of fellowship and the use of membership envelopes) Three (3) letters of recommendation. Recommendation letters must be from a school official, community or civic leader, church official or extracurricular activity sponsor and must be on official letterhead. Recommendation letters cannot be from a relative. A resume or personal statement must be enclosed. Your personal statement must include your career aspirations. This statement must not exceed one page and must be typed. A typed response to one (1) essay topic "What is your favorite Bible verse, why and how has it had a positive effect in your life?" or Identify and discuss two (2) of the ten (10) commandments and provide your personal experiences or understanding. An application that does not comply with all procedures and requirements will be declined. Submission of a completed packet does not guarantee a scholarship. Application packets for the upcoming academic year must be returned to the Scholarship Committee no later than May 22, 2015. Application materials postmarked after May 22th will not be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS! Scholarship checks will be written directly to the college/University. It is the responsibility of the applicant to notify the Saint Paul’s Community Foundation of any changes in your College/ University status and the correct College/ University Student ID #.
