EN COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION C/06/245 Brussels, 1 September 2006 12396/06 (Presse 245) Decisions taken by the Council from 28 July to 1 September 20061 EUROPEAN SECURITY AND DEFENCE POLICY Participation of Switzerland in the EU military operation EUFOR RD Congo The Council adopted on 10 August a decision concerning a contribution by Switzerland to the EU military operation in support of the UN Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC) during the election process (Operation EUFOR RD Congo) (12135/06). The Council also adopted a decision approving, on behalf of the EU, an agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the participation of Switzerland in the EU operation EUFOR RD Congo (12141/1/06). TRADE POLICY Anti-dumping measures - silicon carbide The Council adopted on 21 August a regulation terminating the investigations concerning the anti-dumping measures applicable to imports of silicon carbide originating in Russia and Ukraine and imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of silicon carbide originating in China following an expiry review pursuant to the regulation 384/96 (11986/06). 1 Decisions taken by written procedure. PRESS Rue de la Loi 175 B – 1048 BRUSSELS Tel.: +32 (0)2 281 6319 Fax: +32 (0)2 281 8026 press.office@consilium.europa.eu http://www.consilium.europa.eu/Newsroom 12396/06 (Presse 245) 1 EN - side-by-side refrigerators The Council adopted on 25 August a regulation imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty and collecting definitively the provisional duty imposed on imports of certain side-by-side refrigerators originating in the Republic of Korea (12172/06). - polyethylene terephthalate film The Council adopted on 25 August a regulation amending regulation 367/2006 imposing a definitive countervailing duty on imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film originating in India following an expiry review pursuant to regulation 2026/97 and amending regulation 1676/2001 imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of PET film originating, inter alia, in India (12112/06). - fluorescent lamps The Council adopted on 1 September a regulation amending regulation 1470/2001 imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of integrated electronic compact fluorescent lamps originating in China (12178/06). World Trade Organisation The Council adopted on 28 July conclusions on consultations relating to XXI of the GATS agreement in the context of the World Trade Organisation. TRANSPORT Galileo - Cooperation with Republic of Korea The Council adopted on 1 September a decision approving the signing of an agreement between the EU and the Republic of Korea aimed at encouraging, facilitating and enhancing cooperation in civil global satellite navigation. The signing will take place in Helsinki on 9 September 2006, in the margins of the EU-Korea Summit. The sectors for cooperation activities are: radio-spectrum, scientific research and training, industrial cooperation, trade and market development, standards, certification and regulatory measures, ground augmentation systems, security, liability and cost recovery. 12396/06 (Presse 245) 2 EN
