Counting
Have a look at the diagram below to see how the Japanese count from
1-10 on their fingers. Have a go at it. See how fast you can do it!
Counting over 10 is easy in Japanese. It goes like this:
11 = 10 + 1
or juu-ichi
or 十一
12 = 10 + 2
or juu-ni
or 十二 etc
20 = 2 x 10
or ni-juu
or 二 十
21 = 2 x 10 + 1 or ni-juu-ichi
or 二 十一
Now write these numbers in Japanese:
