GRADUATION, PROM
Dear Parents/ Guardians of Grade 12 students,
With the month of June almost upon us, and bringing with it many activities and events that are
particular to the graduates of 2008, we thought it might be useful to give you a run down of the
various activities and the particulars for each of these events. We hope that this will help you and
your family in making plans and arrangements around the graduate in your family.
Monday, June 2, 2008
The graduate fees will be $80.00 starting June 1st. This money covers the rental of the gown for
graduation, the rental of the facility that holds the graduation, the printing of the documents for
graduation (transcripts, graduation certification, etc.), the graduate’s cap, and corsage at
graduation. As well, the grad fee includes a diploma holder that will include pictures of the prom
and graduation, which will be mailed out to each grad during the summer.

Prom
The Prom is being held at the Westin Hotel. Prom tickets are $75.00, per person. They may be
purchased in room 320 through Mrs. Walker or Ms. Tam only between 12:05 and 12:30. Students
must produce a signed prom contract to be eligible to attend the event. All sign-in guests must be
pre-approved by the principal no later than Friday June 6, 2008. At the time of the ticket
purchase, students will sign up for a table at the dinner/dance portion of the evening. Each table
seats groups of ten. Table sign up is first come first serve.
Historically, students and dates have gone to the Public Gardens for photos before arriving at the
hotel for the prom. With this in mind, students and their dates are to be at the hotel for 6:30 pm to
line up for the Grand March. Students are to line up at the bottom of the staircase. Parents are
encouraged to line up along the perimeter of the upstairs lobby for photos of their graduates and
their dates. The following is the schedule for the remainder of the evening:

Graduation Rehearsal
The list of graduates for the class of 2008 will be posted at noon in the main foyer of the school. At
2:00 pm, there will be a practice of the graduation ceremony in the gym. Immediately following
the practice, the graduates will receive their cap and gown for the ceremony. They are to return the
gowns immediately following the ceremony on Thursday. Graduates will not receive their
transcripts until they pass in their gowns.

Graduation Day
Time: Be there at 1:00 pm!
Place: Dartmouth Sportsplex
Students are to be at the Dartmouth Sportsplex for 1:00 pm on Thursday to get their corsage and
to line up for the commencement of the graduation ceremony. We ask the students to be there an
hour ahead of the start of graduation so as to begin the ceremony at 2:00 pm. The graduation
ceremony and the reception should finish at approximately4:30 pm. That being said, punctuality
is of the essence.
Students and their families do not have to buy tickets for the graduation ceremony. They can also
bring as many people as they wish to the ceremony. Students and families should be aware of
traffic and timing their departure for the ceremony, as they will be travelling during busy hours
over Magazine Hill.
There will be a photographer at the foot of the stage to take a picture of your graduate receiving
their diploma from Mr. Lewis. Parents/guardians and family members are asked to refrain from
crowding around the stage to take photos as it slows down the delivery of the certificates to the
graduates thus slowing down the ceremony itself. Photographs can be taken after the ceremony
should you wish, but it has to be done in a timely manner as gowns have to be returned promptly.
Graduates are to take their gowns to the collection area behind the stage after the graduation
ceremony is over. There they will receive their transcripts. If a gown is not returned, the student
will be responsible for paying the replacement fee for the gown and the postage to send it to the
company from which we rent the gowns. The gowns are shipped to the company immediately
following the graduation; THEY ARE NOT TO BE TAKEN HOME and then returned to the school!
Should you have any questions and/or concerns about any of these items, please do not hesitate to
contact us at school, either by email or by phone.
With kind regards,
