CMS elements
The following CMS elements are used throughout the site:
Text
A basic text entry field which is used for short text strings; styling is typically governed by html and .css rules, but can be applied in a text field if
necessary.
Checkbox
A Boolean which in its activated state translates into the value ‘true’, and when not activated, ‘false’. This logic allows to turn on or off
functionalities on a page

List
A list can – unless it is set to a limit – create n instances of other elements of types component or links. The user expands a list by clicking on +
button, and likewise downsizes a list when clicking on the – button. A list can be populated by either using the Pick button and selecting a desired
element from the pop-up window or by dragging and dropping an element from the CMS site tree.
Component
A shell which groups a number of elements in order to define a certain display area or functionality in a page. The data is neatly grouped in xml and
through a components unique naming convention easily detectable by xslt.
Link
A link can be internal (points to a page in the CMS), external (points to a page outside the CMS) or of type document (points to a .pdf, .doc or other
document types which are placed in folder Documents in the site folder structure) An internal link is set by dragging and dropping a desired page
from the CMS tree into the link slot. An external link, and likewise the document link, is set by browsing or inserting an URL into the URL slot and
adding a fitting title in ‘Link Name:’ . Activating the ‘Display in New Window’ checkbox will open a new browser window when clicking the link on the
page.
XHTML
A text editor with a wide range of layout options. It is best used to display a larger body of text. There are instances in xslt stylesheets where an
empty xhtml field defines following a certain logic; it may so happen that previously entered text did not all clear in this element; the user is advised
to verify that no tag left-overs are still in the xhtml element and can do so by selecting the element’s html link.
Image
A file download element which pulls files from the image folder in the folder structure. Using the Browser / OK buttons allow to locate and download
the desired file.
Dropdown List
A dropdown list of hard-coded values of which the user can select one.
Navigation
A navigation aggregates all nodes under a designated folder or parent page. The navigation can be of type Ancestors, Children, Sibling, Sequential,
Subtree. If a Start Page is not selected, the navigation will point to the page itself as the starting point. In some cases it may be necessary to export

values through a navigation (precisely if global exports cannot be created in the CMS). These local exports are created by defining a name (in Name: )
and the path to the element from where the value is to be pulled from (in Value: ).
If a navigation is of type Ancestor it creates a trail of pages in terms of top-to-bottom dependency of the page visited and displays a so-called
breadcrumb. If of type children, all child pages – unless a limit is set in terms of depth in MaxDepth in the navigation element – are grouped in a
hierarchical pattern and typically used to display left navigation or navigations under a designated folder / parent page. If of type sibling, the
navigation only looks at pages or elements which are on the same hierarchical level as the page visited. Other mentioned navigation types are not
used in this site.
Date / Time
A date and time selection tool which enters same day date by default or allows browsing for a date via a calendar pop-up. The user must activate the
functionality by checking the check box
Multi-Select
A selection tool that allows to choose from and group a list of values. The user can manage a list of values in the CMS by creating or deleting
components based on schema type Category, which need to be housed under a common repository (Important: the xID of a repository must be set as
the Start Page value in the schema of a page type or component where categories are used; only then will values be populated in the Multi-Select
element !).
When clicking select on a Multi-Select element, a pop-up window with Available Choices and Selected Choices appears. Manage categories by moving
values between the choice boxes.
Categories set on both target pages / components and display pages filter data through navigations and conditional statements in XSLT.

Dropdown List element: When selecting ‘Random’, a Rotator Image displays randomly on page refresh based on a Math Random function called in xslt.
When selecting ‘Sequential’, the images display sequentially on page refresh, however, the site must be published since the functionality is based on
cookies.
