How to Compute the Final Grade for the First Quarter
1) Add up all the points to the left of the forward slash from the grade column
_____
This number represents all points the student earned. (Remember – DON’T count the points
you put an X by. Those scores are NOT to be counted in the First Quarter grade.)
2) Add up all the points to the right of the forward slash from the grade column
_____
This number represents all possible points. (Again, DON’T count the X-ed points.)
3) Record the two totals
__/___
4) Divide the score by the total possible points, then move the decimal point
over two places to the right
_____
5) Record the number in front of the decimal (something between 1 and 100)
____%
This is your First Quarter percent grade.
6) Record the First Quarter letter grade
Anything starting with a 9 is an A. Anything starting with a 8 is a B. Anything starting with a 7
is a C, and so forth. If everything is perfect, then the grade is 100. That’s an A, too.
~ Congratulations on completing the first quarter! ~
