I am an external Professional Adviser for the National Health Service Ombudsman based at Millbank
Towers in London.
I am an external Adviser for medical negligence cases to the Medical Defence Union and Medical
Protection Society.
Former Programme Training Director to the North Trent ENT Rotation.
Assessor in the validation of the new fitness to practise examinations at the General Medical Council,
Euston Road, London 2008.
Clinical Invigilating Examiner for Professional Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB), the General
Medical Council.
Member of the organising committee for the next British Academic Conference in Otorhinolaryngology.
Member of the Police Medical Appeals Board.
Reviewer of articles submitted to the Journal of Laryngology and Otology and latterly the Annals of the
Royal College of Surgeons of England.
MEDICOLEGAL EXPERIENCE
I am a Law Society checked expert (no. 4023) and have undertaken medicolegal work at Consultant level
since 1992.
Appropriate training preparing reports in line with the recent Civil Justice Reforms and in single expert
working.
I am one of the Lead Clinicians in Head and Neck Cancer at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield
and have been involved in the management of these patients at Consultant level since 1992.

My current medicolegal instructions are split 60% claimant: 40% defendant and negligible joint expert
for work of this nature and I am experienced at attending case conferences and giving evidence in Court.
This included the recent Nottingham textile cases in the Nottingham County Court.
I am a Member of the Society of Expert Witnesses and a speaker at one of their meetings (2004).
I give periodic lectures on noise induced hearing loss, voice disorder and industrial rhinitis to firms of
solicitors and insurance companies.
I have been a Member of the British Voice Association and for the last 10 years I have undertaken a
regular Voice Clinic at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital for all ranges of conditions.
I frequently undertake medicolegal assessment clinics in Birmingham area, Cambridge, Chesterfield,
Liverpool, London, Sheffield, Stockport and Stoke on Trent.
I prepare medicolegal reports in respect of noise induced hearing loss, acoustic shock, voice disorder,
industrial rhinosinusitis, medical negligence and personal injury cases on a regular basis.
