PLEASE NOTE THAT EXHIBITOR NUMBERS ARE TO BE COLLECTED ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW LIMITED STABLING CAN BE ARRANGED BY TELEPHONING: 07713092956 THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL 1 Classes 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 16-19, 22 are qualifiers for the 2009 Horse of the Year Show at NEC Birmingham (Wednesday 7th October – Sunday 11th October). The entry fees in these classes include a £10 HOYS contribution. All Hunter classes will be judged under the Society’s rules and SHB(GB) (01732866277) require all entries in the Hunter classes to be Registered. Classes 16-19 and 22 are qualifying events for the Horse of the Year Show 2009 and only horses registered on the 2009 Show Hunter register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry form, and owners and riders must be members of the society. The highest placed horse in classes 16-19 will qualify to enter at the Horse of the Year Show unless it has already done so, in which case the second horse will go forward. No horse lower than second in its class will qualify. In class 22 the highest placed horse will qualify to enter at the HOYS unless it has already done so in which case the second horse will go forward unless it has already done so in which case the third horse will go forward. No horse lower than third will qualify. Classes 16-19 are qualifying events for the 2009 NHSCS. The three highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at the NHSCS. No horse lower than third in its class will qualify. Horses in classes 15, 20 21, 23 - 25 are only required to be registered on the Basic Identity Record or Stud Book of the Society. The Society offers a temporary registration to competitors who wish to compete at three qualifying shows for a fee of £10 per show. If the horse subsequently qualifies then they will need to complete their full registration before the championship final and the fee will be refunded. Any exhibit found not to be correctly registered will be disqualified. A skull cap or hat and safety harness, according to the current BSI or European standard MUST BE WORN by all competitors under the age of eighteen in all Sport Horse (GB) Classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. All Hunters, including Small, are barred from entry in Hack and Riding Horse classes at this show and vice versa. AMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for showing purposes when showing ridden hunters in an amateur class if he or she does not: a) engage in, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving a main source of income since 1st January 2007. b) accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in a racing, showing, livery stable or riding school. (Instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted) since 1st January 2007. c) show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concern since 1st January 2007. d) show a horse which a professional rider has qualified in the weights or small ridden hunter class for either the Horse of the Year Championships or the Royal International Horse Show during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently reregistered under new ownership. e) show a horse which is exhibited by a professional rider at the same show (except in Working Hunter and Ladies Hunter Classes). f) an amateur working hunter may not be ridden by a professional rider in a working hunter class on the same day. g) professional show persons must not enter the Amateur Ring whilst the classes are in progress. This show is affiliated to the BSHA (01462437770)and will be run under its rules and jurisdiction. All owners, exhibitors trainers, producers and riders must be members of BSHA in all BSHA Classes, with the exception of day ticket holders. Non members may purchase up to a maximum of two day tickets per exhibitor per horse, per season. A day ticket will allow entry into novice and open affiliated classes only but not HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered using the day ticket do not require a JMB height certificate until full registration. Hacks are barred from Riding Horse classes and vice versa. First prize winners in classes 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will qualify for the Hack, Cob and Riding Horse of The Year at the 2009 Horse of the Year Show (Wednesday 7th October- Sunday 11th October). If already qualified the second will go forward. If the first and second have already qualified then the third will qualify and so forth to fifth place, no horse lower than fifth place may qualify. The three highest placed horses in classes 9 and 10 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Riding Horse Classes at the National Championship Show (11th/12th September 2009). The three highest placed in classes 4 and 5 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Hack Classes at the National Championship Show. The three highest placed in classes 7 and 8 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Cob Classes at the National Championship Show. NOVICE CLASSES A Novice Hack, Cob or Riding Horse is one which has not won a first prize of £25 or more 2 or a total of £100 in any BSHA affiliated showing classes at home or abroad prior to 1st January 2009. Winnings gained as a four year old are excepted unless that four year old has won an open class. A novice may be shown in a snaffle bridle. AMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for the purposes of classes run under BSHA rules, if he or she does not: i) engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses . ii) receive remuneration for employment in connection with horses in racing, showing, equestrian related advertising, livery stables or riding school (instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted). Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Showjumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1 st January 2009- is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter Classes. To be judged 60% for jumping performance, 40% as for Hunter Classes. The jumping to be judged 40% actual jumping and 20% style and presence. Ride and conformation 40%. Horses with minus scores after the jumping phase will not be required for the second phase of the class. Fences to be a minimum of eight and a maximum of twelve in number. Maximum height 3'9" -1.14 mtrs(Novice class- min height 2’9” -0.85mtrs max 3’3”;1.00mtr Amateur and Restricted classesmax height 3’6” 1.07 mtrs) at the discretion of the judges. All obstacles are numbered. Fences should have a natural presence and not be easily dislodged. The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden side saddle, in which cases in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). Horses may be equipped with boots of a plain colour in the jumping phase only, rigid or weighted boots are not allowed. On completion of the jumping phase all clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require, should be asked to return to the ring. If a horse positively stops or turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete turnaround, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps the incorrect fence out of a pen or lane it will be eliminated. Horses displaying continued disobedience or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated. In the event of a horse falling during a class that horse will be asked to leave the ring and will not be allowed to compete further in that class. Exhibitors will be allowed to compete two horses in a Working Hunter Class but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to select ONLY ONE horse to take forward into the ridden and conformation section if required. Working Hunter courses are not to be walked by competitors until the judge has given permission.
