Prerequisite Requirements

Do all prerequisites need to be completed in order to apply to this program?
No. Prerequisites are a requirement to matriculate into the program and are not required to be completed
at the time that you apply. As such, you may apply early and complete the prerequisites during the
following Spring or Summer semesters. All prerequisites must be completed by the Fall semester in which a
student plans on starting the program. In no case can a prerequisite course be taken concurrently with the
Accelerated BS/MS Nursing program.


Is there a time limit on my prerequisite courses?
Physical science courses (Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Chemistry I and II, and Microbiology) must be
completed within 7 years of the start of the program. Students whose physical science courses exceed the 7
year time limit may choose to retake the course, take the CLEP exam (Chemistry, only) or take a review
course through Regis College. There is no time limit on Social Science courses (Human Development,
Statistics, and Ethics).


I had previously taken courses similar to the prerequisites. Can these courses count?

Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and Miller Analogies Test (MAT)

Can I waive the GRE/MAT requirement?
Only students holding a previous advanced degree (Masters or Doctoral level) will be exempt from taking
the GRE or MAT exam. Unlike other programs offered at Regis College, students applying to the Accelerated
BS/MS Nursing program are not eligible to take two courses towards the program in order to waive the
GRE exam.

What scores does Regis College require on the GRE/MAT?
The average accepted student at Regis College receives a total of 1100 on the GRE exam (550 Verbal, 550
Quantitative) and 410 on the Miller Analogies Test. Preferred scores for students taking the Revised GRE
Exam will not be available until November of 2011.


I received a lower score on the GRE/MAT. Will my application still be reviewed?
Yes. There is no specific cutoff for GRE scores. The Graduate Admission Committee will review your entire
application (including resume, personal statement, transcripts, prerequisite grades, letters of reference,
and personal interview) before rendering an admission decision. All items will be taken into consideration
when reviewing a student’s application.
