Biophysical Sciences and Medicine, Harvard Medical School (head - Dr. Bert L. Vallee). General
area – cancer research (angiogenesis), biochemistry of alcohol abuse; more specifically alcohol/aldehyde enzymatic conversion and specific inhibition of the enzymes of acetaldehyde
metabolism, and identification of compounds of plant origin that specifically reduce appetite to
alcohol (anti-dipsotropic activity), among them carbohydrate conjugates/isoflavons, galactans and
mixed glucosides and galactomannans.
