Dear Barton School Student:
I am pleased to invite you to become a member of the Barton School Dean’s Ambassadors (BSDA), a student
organization designed to bring together the “best of the best” in the W. Frank Barton School of Business.
The Barton School Dean’s Ambassadors are business students who together form an organization that actively
advances the Barton School’s reputation and image, meets the diverse needs of the students, and engages
students in the many facets of the Barton School. We act as a liaison between students and the Dean to
implement the Mission of the Barton School* by engaging in activities and valuable opportunities for networking
with peers, WSU faculty and staff, and business professionals, as well as through service in the community to
utilize and enhance our students’ entrepreneurial spirit. These objectives are fulfilled through the embodiment
of the Barton School’s core values of Integrity, Excellence, and Collegiality.
*Mission of the Barton School of Business: The Barton School of Business advances the knowledge
and practice of business, reaches out to constituents, and prepares students to successfully compete in
the global entrepreneurial marketplace.
Membership dues are $10 each semester per the BSDA Constitution. Meetings are generally held at 5:00 p.m.
on Sunday afternoons once or twice a month; however, other meetings may be required depending on the
activity of the group. Members are required to purchase a BSDA polo, T-shirt, and nametag for a total of $20.

Legacy of Barton School Dean’s Ambassadors
"As an inaugural member of the Barton School Dean's Ambassadors, I'm proud of the program's growth and
adherence to its original mission of advancing the School's reputation and meeting the needs of its students. The
opportunities to develop skills in advocacy, representation, and communication translate well to later
employment in both private and public organizations. Just as significant is the tremendous reward of serving a
cause broader than one's self. BSDA was an influential part of my path to graduate school and public service."
Adam Seiler
Lieutenant, U.S. Navy
Former BSDA Secretary and Member (2001 – 2003)
"Being a member of BSDA immediately puts a student on the fast-track to a rewarding college experience. I
loved being involved with BSDA because of the increased interactions it provided me with the Barton School's
staff and faculty, as well as other engaged student leaders. These students care about getting the most out of
their education and applying what they are learning in the classroom to the real business world. I have some
great memories from my time as a Dean's Ambassador, and the leadership skills I developed have been serving
me well ever since."
Katie (Kontz) Austin, M.Ed.
Associate Director for Residence Life, Wichita State University
Former BSDA Vice President and Member (2005 – 2008)
"The Barton School Dean’s Ambassadors organization was an important part of my time at Wichita State
University. As a member I had the opportunity to interact with the students, faculty, and staff within the Barton
School of Business and businesses in the Wichita area. The organization provided opportunities for the students
to take charge and create projects to improve the Barton School of Business and put on events that allowed
business students the chance to interact with faculty. I learned valuable communication and leadership skills
that I’ve taken with me into my everyday life. The relationships I created during my time in BSDA have lasted
after college and continue to be a lasting bond between friends and associates of BSDA."
Christina A Evans
Corporate Accountant, Koch Industries Inc.
Former BSDA President and Vice President and Member (2007 – 2009)
