PARENTS
8-9 a.m.
Check-in
Guerrieri Center - Concourse
Students receive Preview Information packets and New Student Reader
materials. A continental breakfast is offered in the Guerrieri Center, Fireside
Lounge. Students may also get their Gull Card student identification card. Look
for additional information tables at check-in, including:



New Student Experience Outdoor Seminar Program
Signed up yet? These special outdoor programs provide incoming
students the opportunity to build lasting friendships, intimate self
discovery, learn about SU, get to know student peer leaders and have a
truly unique experience before the first day of classes begin!
Parents and Family Association
Find out information about how to become involved with SU’s Parent and
Family Association.
SECU (State Employees Credit Union)
(8 a.m. 4 p.m.) The State Employees Credit Union is the banking
institution that supplies the ATM on campus. Stop by and talk to their
representative to get information on student checking accounts, savings
accounts and debit cards.

The University Writing Center’s one-on-one consultations transform students into more
competent and confident writers. This session shows how the Writing Center and other
student services on-campus can enhance classroom learning.

Students and parents have the opportunity to hear from representatives from the
offices of Student Counseling Services; Student Activities, Organizations and
Leadership; Multicultural Student Services, University Police, Student Health
Services, and student peer leaders.
Noon – 1:00 p.m.
Lunch
Commons – Dorchester Room 127
Students and their families meet for lunch and students are assigned to an
advising group before they leave the dining hall. Students MUST be in the
Dorchester Room at 1 p.m. to meet their academic advising group. Faculty and
staff will be on hand to provide resource information during lunch. If you were
not able to attend one of the concurrent sessions earlier or you had other
questions that may not have addressed your concerns, this is the time to get the
information you need. Lunch time table participants are:

you may have missed during your Preview day.

Parents in Transition
Guerrieri Center – Nanticoke Room 236
Participants explore ways in which the transition to college impacts parents and
students. They also examine strategies parents and students can utilize to
enhance this developmental transition so that the college experience becomes
academically rewarding and emotionally strengthening. Topics include
separation anxiety, emotional adjustment, campus resources and academic
strategies.

Tours Leave Every 15 Minutes
Guerrieri Center, Fireside Lounge
Preview peer leaders provide a tour of a residence hall room and a short walking
tour of the campus, identifying buildings (Weather Permitting).
2:15 – 3:30 p.m.
Reunite with Students
Guerrieri Center – Fireside Lounge
It is anticipated that the individually paced student course registration finishes
during this time. Students reunite with the parents after they have completed
registration.
