STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Advertised: Spring Semester
The purpose of the W. W. GRAINGER, INC., Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship Fund is to reward academic excellence and to financially assist qualified vocational/technical degree candidates in the Industrial Technologies and Transportation Technologies Division in the pursuit of their degree or licensed certification.
A total of two (2) scholarships ($2,000 each) will be awarded in two installments of $1,000 on August 15, 2012 and December 15, 2012. A Westward toolkit will also be awarded to each recipient upon graduation. Grainger is looking for students who stand out in achievement and leadership and intend to enter the trade workforce upon graduation.
The scholarships will awarded to students pursuing a specialization in electrical systems
engineering, heating/air conditioning, plumbing, welding, automotive, construction, facility maintenance, energy systems, or other technical workforce
degree programs.
The Atlanta Technical College Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization, administers the scholarship fund.
STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants must be enrolled in the following programs: electrical systems
engineering, heating/air conditioning, plumbing, welding, automotive, construction, facility maintenance, energy systems, or other technical workforce
degree programs and currently enrolled in at least 12 credit hours during the current semester.
Applicants must be entering second-year status during the year the scholarship is to be provided.
2. Applicants must possess a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (based on a four-point system). The applicant must also submit an “Instructor Recommendation Form”
(attached) and a letter of recommendation from a current or previous instructor or advisor in their program of study. The instructor/advisor should be familiar with the applicant’s academic achievement and work ethics. The form along with the letter of
recommendation MUST be submitted in a sealed envelope along with the student’s application form.
3. Applicants must provide a copy of their Banner Web Transcript and grade report from the most current semester.
4. Applicants must submit a typed, double-spaced, 200-300 word essay on why they chose to study technical education, how their achievements and/or leadership roles have helped them grow individually and their future goals within the technical field.
5. Applicants must provide a list of clubs, activities, accomplishments, leadership roles held and years involved, including those relating to their field of study.

6. Recipients, by accepting the award, agree to allow Grainger to publish their name and likeness, without restriction, in promoting the reward and Grainger’s contribution.
Recipients may additionally be contacted by Grainger and interviewed for the creation of additional related publicity or information. Awardees may additionally be asked to sign a waiver.
AMOUNT AND DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS
1. A total of two (2) scholarships ($2,000 each) will be awarded in two installments of
$1,000 on August 15, 2012 and December 15, 2012. A Westward toolkit will also be awarded to each recipient upon graduation.
2. The scholarship is for tuition, books, and program specific supplies that can be purchased at the ATC bookstore.
3. The scholarship will be rescinded in the following cases:
A.
Student’s GPA falls below 3.0
Student will receive a one-time probationary semester if his/her GPA drops below 3.0.
The scholarship will not be renewed if the student’s GPA drops for a second time.
B.
Student’s course load falls below 12 hours for the semester
To qualify for the scholarship, a student must be registered for a minimum of 12-credit hours (full-time study). The student must maintain a full-time course of study during the awarding period. A student may enroll in an elective course if a required course is not available to ensure full-time study status is maintained.
C.
Student withdraws from Atlanta Technical College
A student may reapply for scholarship consideration in the next funding cycle if his/her scholarship is rescinded for any of the reasons listed above.
D.
Student enrolled at Atlanta Technical College
A student MUST be enrolled at the college and entering the second-year status during the year the scholarship is to be provided.
Alternate scholarship recipients will also be chosen to receive an award if a scholarship is rescinded due to ineligibility or graduation of the scholarship recipients. The alternate recipients will receive notification of their status as alternates and be contacted if monies become available.
4. Scholarships are not transferable between divisions; if a student changes his/her major from one division to another, the student forfeits his/her scholarship.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The availability of scholarship funding will be advertised during the Spring Semester and the award will be announced during the Fall Semester.

Students and Faculty will be informed via the ATC E-mail Group, ATC Scholarship
Website, announcements in classes, campus-wide televised communication system, and e-newsletters of the availability of the Grainger Scholarship.

Completed applications will be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid by

Incomplete application packets will not be eligible for consideration. All applicants will be contacted and informed of the status of their application via letter. Additionally, the staff of the Sponsored Programs Department will contact via telephone eligible students chosen for further consideration.

Incomplete application packets WILL NOT be eligible for consideration. Applicants will be contacted and informed of the status of their application via letter from the Office of Institutional Development within three weeks after receipt.
