Position Summary
Position Purpose
The SACE Board of South Australia operates within legislative requirements as detailed in the SACE Board of South Australia Act 1983 and adheres to work health and safety requirements, equal opportunity principles, and public sector principles.
The SACE Board of South Australia is responsible for the development and management of curriculum and its assessment, as well as the certification and reporting of student achievement and student participation data, in the South
Australian Certificate of Education.
The Office of the SACE Board is organised around several functional groups including:
Curriculum and Assessment, Information Services, Communications, HR and
Corporate Services, and the Office of the Chief Executive.
In collaboration with other groups across the SACE Board, the Communications group provides a range of strategic and operational functions relating to communications management including editing, production, design, website administration, media liaison, marketing, event coordination, and administration.
The Online Communications Officer is accountable to the Online Coordinator for a range of activities to facilitate online communication between the SACE Board and its stakeholders.
The Online Communications Officer is accountable to the Online Coordinator for:
Contributing towards a range of online projects to support communication with teachers, schools, and other stakeholders, with responsibilities including: o Writing and editing content o Providing advice and analysis on online platforms and technologies o Liaising with the Website Administrator and Developers to ensure systems are built in line with good usability and accessibility principals
Working with the Website Administrator to contribute to the ongoing development of the SACE website and intranet
Developing and maintaining an organisational online content schedule
Creating, developing and maintaining the SACE Board’s social media presence, including developing systems and processes for monitoring and engaging
Researching, recognising and pursuing opportunities for the SACE Board to use web technologies to achieve communications and organisational objectives
Contributing to the shared work of the SACE Board in collaboration with all SACE
Board working groups and teams.

The incumbent works under the SACE Board of South Australia Act.
An intense time of activity within the SACE Board of South Australia
’s online communications group between November and January. Only limited planned leave may be possible during this period.

Qualifications
Appropriate tertiary qualification/s or equivalent experience in Communications,
Public Relations, Multimedia, Marketing or other relevant discipline/s

Ability to use online publishing platforms such as Content Management Systems, social media, and the ability to quickly learn new applications
Ability to keep accurate and complete records of business activities in accordance with the State Records Act 1997
Knowledge of guidelines relating to accessibility and other web standards
Knowledge of emerging online trends and technologies and the opportunities these present for improved communication and service delivery
Sound knowledge and understanding of policies and principles relating to equal employment opportunity programs and work health and safety
