Family Support We recognise that from time to time families may need some extra help, and the Family Support team may be able to assist you if you have a child who is five or under, or if you are expecting a new baby. Any parent or person working with a family can request support from the team. Volunteer Training Starting School for English as a Second Language (ESOL) Parents If you have not been to the centres before call to speak to an outreach worker or attend a family session at Higher Blackley or Charlestown, where you will be given information that may be useful to you. Please contact the outreach workers or reception staff to register your interest. Parents may only attend one of the courses in blue during the year. Are you a mum or dad, grandparent or carer with children under five? Then why not get involved and give your views about the services provided by the centres through the Parents’ Forum This meeting is where parents meet with the outreach workers to discuss the activities and services at the centres and make suggestions for what they would like to see in the centres in the future. The information is then shared with the Advisory/ Partnership Board. These are held four times each year and a crèche is provided. Please keep a look out for dates. This is an opportunity for parents to listen and/or contribute to the discussions. The board and its sub group’s aim to support and challenge centre leaders in their work. The board monitors progress against the development plan, which in turn supports the evaluation of services with a view to improving outcomes for children and families. As a result of discussions, the board supports the identification of priorities for future development. Please contact your local Children’s Centre if you would like to be involved with these.
