This letter is to review and confirm the upcoming basketball competitions.
-The 6th grade boys’ competition will be held on Wednesday, January 18th, at Southwest Middle School.
-The 7th grade boys’ competition will be held on Wednesday, January 18th, at South Middle School.
-The 6th grade girls’ competition will be held on Thursday, January 19th, at Southwest Middle School.
-The 7th grade girls’ competition will be held on Thursday, January 19th, at Northeast Middle School.
The small gym at Southwest Middle will be available for warm up and hopefully keep the tournament on
schedule. There will also be concessions – soda, chips, etc., so tell your students to bring money if they
want to purchase items from the concession stand.
***Please remember to schedule transportation.***
PARKWAY MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL RULES
1) Each game will be 20 minutes in length with no halftime.
2) There will be a 5-minute warm-up before each game.
3) Full court press is not allowed; half court press only.
4) The scorekeeper will only keep track of team scoring and team fouls. Substitutes should report to
the scorekeeper before entering the game.
5) The clock will be stopped in the last 2 minutes of the game if there is less than a 10-point difference
in the score.
6) In case of a tie, the clock will be set for 2 minutes overtime.
7) Each school is expected to provide supervision for their students. Students are expected to remain
in the gym, sitting in the bleachers or in the small gym when not playing. Locker rooms will be
open and jerseys will be provided if needed.
