Mount Pearl City Days – Summer Festival July 18, 19, 20, 2008 It is the 20th Anniversary for City Days which marks the incorporation of Mount Pearl as Newfoundland and Labrador’s third city. Join in the celebrations! Friday, July 18th: Family Pig Roast & Concert takes place 6:00– 9:00pm at St. David’s Softball Field and features great entertainment by the The Ross Ceiligh Bandy and Third Rock. There’ll also be free refreshments and tractor rides. Admission - non-perishable food item. (Takes place outside rain or shine.) Friday, July 18th: Outdoor Movie 9:00pm at St. David’s Softball Field with the feature film ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’. Admission - non-perishable food item. (Takes place outside rain or shine.) Saturday, July 19th: Family Fun Day takes place at Power’s Pond from 11:00am-3:00pm. There’ll be children’s entertainment, roaming buskers, milk carton boat races on the pond, magician, Dungarvin, coloring murals, canoe rides, a huge birthday cake, barbeque and more! Also, register in the Amazing Race Scavenger hunt where teams will race around the pond finding various items while participating in healthy activity challenges. There’ll be lots of prizes and fun…bring your family and stay for the day! Admission - non-perishable food item. (Takes place outside rain or shine.) Saturday, July 19th: A Night with the Stars is 8:30-10:00pm at Admiralty House Museum grounds. Families are invited to cap of the night ‘Stargazing’, a guided tour of the constellations, and enjoy a barbeque. Bring a blanket, dress warm, and take along binoculars if you have them. Coordinated by Admiralty House Museum. (Weather permitting.) Saturday, July 19th: Back to the 80’s Bash at the Reid Community Centre beginning at 9:00pm with contests, great bar prices, prizes and entertainment by the Eight Track Favorites (9-10:30pm) and 709 (11pm1am). 80’s Music by Twilight Music as well. Grab your friends for a great evening of live entertainment and dancing…remember to dress 80’s style! Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the Reid Community Centre. (Ages 19+) Saturday, July 19st: Pearlstock Concert takes place at St. David’s Softball Field from 6:00-10:00pm. It’s a great evening of entertainment for with acts including: Mosaik, The Red Light Runners, MC Snax, Dawn Awakening, and Whiskey River! Coordinated in partnership with YAT (Youth Action Team). Admission - non-perishable food item. (Takes place outside rain or shine.) Sunday, July 20th: Mega Birthday Blitz and Concert at St. David’s Softball Field from 2:00–10:45pm. This all day concert has become one of the biggest birthday parties in the province! It consists of some of Newfoundland’s greatest talent. Food and beverage concessions, games of chance and a beer tent will also be available. Entertainment line-up includes: Whiskey River (2:00pm), Ignition (2:40pm), Gulliver’s Spree (3:30pm), Freshly Squeezed (4:10pm), Traces (5:05pm), Rowdy Stout (6:00pm), Rod Jackson (7:00pm), Blue Eyed Blonde (8:00pm); Dennis Parker Band (9:00pm), and Masterless Men (10:00pm).
