Baraboo School District Psychologist Evaluation Standards Psychologist Name: Date of Evaluation: Evaluator: Standards Covered: Domain 1: Direct Service Functions Indicators: Administers and interprets individual and group psychological, psycho- educational, and curriculumrelated assessment measures for students who have suspected educational disabilities. Collects additional data on the nature of the child’s difficulties by observation, parent conferences, staff conferences, and other means. Documents the results of testing in both written and verbal form. Completes all necessary evaluation forms for initial evaluations and re-evaluations. Assists in the IEP process in the design and development of specialized procedures, resources, and materials to be utilized to assist the child’s learning and/or behavioral functioning (e.g. development of IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans and Functional Behavior Assessment) Assists in the design and implement of screening/evaluation programs for children age 3-21 in the district (Early Childhood screening, kindergarten screening/early admission, ongoing consultation with regular education teachers regarding potential need for IDEA involvement, transfer students from other schools, home school, or other facilities). In cooperation with school counselors, provides one-on-one and/or small group counseling for students within the district who self-refer or are referred by parents or teachers or outside agencies. Reviews files for all incoming special education transfer students and coordinate the initiation of ongoing services. Observer Evidence: Domain 2: Consultative Services Indicators: Confers with administrators, teachers, and other district personnel to discuss needs of individual students and/or classroom issues (Building Assistance Teams/Child Find activity) Confers with administrators, teachers, and parents in the development and implementation of specialized instructional programs for students identified as having special education needs Assists with and provides in-service training and other staff development activities in regard to: screening, identification, evaluation, paperwork requirements (Infinite Campus forms) programming, and other procedures relevant to children with disabilities. Consults with school counselors regarding students who are in group or individual counseling programs within the school setting, makes appropriate recommendations regarding treatment and intervention. Assists teachers and administrators in the referral and identification of students with special education needs. Is available to serve as a consultant for district-wide testing programs or as a member of education and/or policy committees. Participates in district Safety Response Plan (Suicide prevention, crisis intervention activities, and emergency response involvement). Observer Evidence: Domain 3: Community Services Indicators: Serves as a staff liaison (when requested), representing the District, with other schools and/or agenciesconcerned with the needs of specific children within the District. Serves as a staff liaison at the county level, representing the District on committees concerned with mental health and other needs of the student population when requested (e.g. Families Come first committee involvement, Comprehensive Community Services, meetings for students returning from incarceration, transitioning from Birth to Three programs, etc.) Advocates for students with disabilities who have needs not provided by the school district (e.g. need for glasses, funding for participation in camps for students with disabilities, assist family with obtaining outside counseling, etc.). Observer Evidence: Domain 4: Professional Activities Indicators: Participates in local, state, and national conferences, as approved or requested by the District Administrator Stays current with research and knowledge as well as laws and regulations to improve best practices in the provision of school psychological services to students.
