All National, Regional and Local Intelligence Units, SIO’s, Security Services, SOCA (NCA)
HMRC, UKBA, FIB’s and other associated agencies,
To provide relevant and accurate information and analysis which will support MC and SOC
investigations from development stage to the criminal justice process inform and influence
decisions allowing the effective deployment of operational resources.
To comply with the strategic aims and objectives of the Regional Intelligence Unit with due
regard to the control strategy, ROCU standards including OCGM processes within the East
Midlands.
Duties
Operational:
Responsibilities
Deputise in absence of Senior Analyst where operational requirements dictate.
Undertake analysis and present the findings of analytical work as intelligence/analytical
products to the standards defined within the National Intelligence Model (NIM)
Inform and advise strategic, tactical and investigative decision making by constructing
appropriate inferences and recommendations, to ensure that prevention, enforcement
intelligence and reassurance activity is prioritised and focused in an effective and efficient
way
To help drive investigations within the SOC and MC syndicates by the production of quality,
insightful products that add value which includes the provision of and attendance at court
with evidential analysis.
To proactively apply the analytical techniques and products as defined within the NIM
To undertake the necessary analytical functions required in support of the regional
organised crime group mapping processes
To understand and utilise a number of IT software applications at an advanced level in order
to produce proactive intelligence reports.
To keep up to date with changing intelligence analytical techniques
To maintain an understanding of the operational environment to give effective focus to
intelligence research & analysis.
Communication:
To give structured and detailed briefings to senior police officers, internal and external staff
to update on all key facts and issues as required
Disseminate the results of analytical work, to diverse audiences, in the most appropriate
format (graphical, written, verbal briefing or formal presentation), adhering to NIM principles.

demands of policing reflected in Force objectives and priorities.
The post-holder will be required to be security cleared to SC/MV level and possibly DV
level. (If the post-holder does not hold a clearance of this level at the time of appointment,
the appointment will be subject to successful application and maintenance of this level of
clearance).
The roles of staff on the EMSOU have been designated as 'High Risk Posts' within the
meaning of the Drug and Alcohol Misuse Policy. Successful applicants may be required to
submit themselves for routine drug and alcohol testing in line with that policy whilst
employed on the unit.
To undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe
and effective performance of the job. This role description should develop along with
ongoing demands of policing reflected in Regional objectives and priorities
The post-holder should be willing to work within all four sections of the Regional Intelligence
Unit upon acceptance of an RIU post, this being the RIU Tactical team, the RIU Strategic
team, the Regional OCGM team and the Regional Confidential Unit.
The post-holder should recognise that for operational continuity post-holders may be asked
to work within the four departments within the RIU at different times.
The post holder may dependant on where operational demand dictates be required to work
at any location within the East Midlands region in support of the RIU objectives.
