The RN Cross Country Championships took place at HMS RALEIGH on Wed 2 Feb 12. Raleigh’s course proved to be challenging, with athletes negotiating various turns, ascents and descents over mud and grass, with the Senior/Veteran Men completing 9.1km (2 ½ laps) and the Ladies and Junior Men (U20’s) completing 5.1 km (1 ½ laps). RACE 2. MNE Kechacha from Royal Marines won the Junior Men’s competition for the second consecutive season, with more than 2 minutes lead over AB Turner from Plymouth Command. The Ladies race was won by LT Bakewell who had a one minute lead over the runner up PO Wynn. In the Senior and Veteran Men’s race, LPT Young took first place, pulling away from MAJ Walls on the last lap of the course. The Men’s team event was won by Royal Marines with Portsmouth Command winning the ladies competition. The Royal Marines took the Veteran’s Men’s event. RESULTS 3. Results can be found at Annex A. PRIZE WINNERS 4. Prize winners can be found at Annex B. INTER SERVICE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS 5. The teams to represent the Royal Navy at the Inter Service Cross Country Championships, will be selected by the RNAA Working Committee.
