On opening day, June 13, 2000, he went deep in the bottom of the first against Cotuit. Youkilis almost duplicated the feat in the Majors when he hit a home run in his first game with the Boston Red Sox in Toronto. He joined fellow Red Sox player Carlton Fisk (Orleans, 1966) as players who homered in their first Cape League at bat.
