Blackrock Bowling and Tennis Club (Dublin) requires two coaches, one to act as ‘Senior Coach’, and
one for a ‘Junior Coach’ position. Please see all the details below. If you are interested in either of

Roles: Two Positions Senior and Junior Tennis Coaches
Reports to:
Board, close liaison with Mens , Ladies and
Junior Captains
Purpose of the role:
Location:
Blackrock Bowling and Tennis Club.
 The senior coach will head up the coaching team to help players, senior and junior to play to
the best of their ability whatever the level. The junior coach will support and report into the
senior coach. Both roles will involve the planning and delivery of quality coaching
programmes to help bring a solid track record of tennis club performance to a new level of
achievement and enjoyment.
Deliverables:
Plan and implement a Tennis Development Strategy with Tennis Captains and
Board to:











Present and agree a Rolling 3 year Tennis Development Plan, to be reviewed and updated
annually.
Work in planning and organising an integrated training programme for all ages and ability
groups.
Develop a suite of training and coaching programmes for all levels; from competitive to
fun, enjoyment and recreational.
Develop a culture of continuous improvement amongst the members.
Manage and motivate the junior coach and ensure excellent communications at all times
Assist in the recruitment of new members especially high performing senior members and
juniors with talent. Coaches will also help develop policies which will lead to the
recruitment of other members
Develop and implement policy with regard to Cardio Tennis and ITN Assessments
Agree coaching times of work and the amount of private coaching
Work effectively with the Tennis Committee and implement any agreed proposals.
Work effectively with the part-timeTennis Coaching Co-ordinator
Take on board other responsibilities as required by Board / Officers of the club
Develop a Junior Programme with the Junior Committee to:





Address the needs of the club as well as the individual.
Ensure relevance to age and/or ability groups.
Focus on Tennis and Child Safety.
Give time and resources to those who want to improve.
Specifically produce proposals for a Seasonal Programmes and implement any agreed
plans.
Develop Senior Competitive Tennis and Events with the Tennis Committee to:

Develop a Coaching and Training programme for League Teams.



Develop the Club Championships, Handicaps and other Competitive events within the
Club
Work to provide Coaching programmes to improve what the club offers to competitive
players.
Develop more informal competition.
Develop the Recreational Tennis Offering to our Members with the Tennis
Committee to:


Offer group and individual coaching.
Develop and ensure implementation of an expansion in the programmes we offer to
recreational players through concepts such as Cardio Tennis, ITN Assessments .
Continuous Professional Development with Tennis Ireland



Ensure the use of Coaching best practices and continuous updating of own skills
Work with Leinster Branch/Tennis Ireland to ensure that the club is offering the best
possible programme to all age groups.
Research development of internal competition nationally and internationally and
implement agreed proposals.

Experience:
 People Management and ability to deal effectively with several stakeholders
 Previous coaching with a successful track record

Technical competencies:
 IT literate and experience in the use of MS Office applications
 Accredited by Tennis Ireland
Other Significant Role Requirements:
 Enthusiastic about BBTC and its ethos
 Licensed by Tennis Ireland or to become licensed by 2015
 Garda vetted to work with children
