Sheep must arrive by 4:00 PM and checked in by 5:00 PM. Show will begin at 8:00 AM Saturday.
Sale at 1 PM or following lunch break. .
$15 Entry fee per head. Pen of Three or more will be $10/hd. Each farm will be charged $7.00 for
a shavings fee regardless of number of entries.
Entries due Aug 1st to be eligible for catalog. Entries must be accompanied by summary sheet.
All American Dorper Sheep Breeder Society registration papers will be presented and collected at
time of check in exhibitors must specify haltered or un-haltered at check in
Sellers must be members of ADSBS (American Dorper Sheep Breeder Society) and Texas Hill
Country Dorper Assn. May attach Texas Hill Country Dorper Assn. $25 membership fee with entry.
Seller must be a resident Texas breeder.
Sheep must have scrapie tag and ADSBS papers
Paint brands. Sheep will be paint branded with lot number and X if percentage.
All sheep must be shorn within two weeks of the show.
Substitution within sex will be allowed after the closing date. Substituted sheep will be given new
lot numbers to reduce confusion.
Entry limits 10 total lots per farm. Pen of three equals one lot. (Unless additional numbers are
needed to have viable sale this rule can/will be suspend on presidents call)
New consignors are limited to 1 pen of three, 2 un-haltered, with haltered filling the remaining.
Returning consignors are limited to 2 pens of three, 5 un-haltered, with haltered filling remaining.
Seller may enter two rams with out entering ewes. The seller’s third ram and each ram thereafter
require two ewes.

Haltered Classes will be shown in the ring. Non-Haltered Classes will be penned by class and
judged in the pen.
All non-haltered sheep will be penned together.
Haltered and Non-Haltered will consist only of Pureblood/Fullblood.
The Pen of Three Class (a group of three ewes shown/sold together can be 75% or greater,
Purebred or Fullblood) will be penned together and judged in their pens. Judge’s placing will
determined the sale order. All pen of threes will be shown in one class.
Classes will be broken by registration papers and consist of:
24-36 month old rams (Sept 1st 2007—August 30th 2008)
Yearling rams (September 1st, 2008-- August 30th 2009)
Fall ram lambs (September 1st 2009 – December 31st 2009)
Spring ram lambs (January 1st 20010 and Later)
Yearling ewes (September 1st, 2008-- August 30th 2009)
Fall ewe lambs (September 1st 2009 – December 31st 2009)
Spring ewe lambs (January 1st 2010 and Later)

White Dorpers and Dorpers will show separately, but one class after the other (ex. yearling Dorper
rams will be followed yearling White Dorper Rams)
A private sifter will look for cull faults and remove sheep form the show and sale. The sifter has the
discretion to cull any sheep not meeting quality standards. The sifter’s decision will be final. No
refund of fees to sifted sheep. Considerations for sifting include:

Unsound feet and legs (crippled, coon footed, sickle-hocked)
●
Unsound mouth (overbite, under bite)
●
Unsound reproductive organs
●
Poor breed character, health, or serious conformation fault
●
Or any sheep the sifter believes does not represent the quality of the Dorper breed

Sale Rules:
Sale will collect 10% commission per lot. If seller PO’s a lot above floor price, seller pays 10%
commission on lots at price PO’ed. Consigners are responsible for paying the full purchase price of
the PO’ed sheep so the books can be balanced.
Sale order will be Haltered, Non-Haltered, Pen Of Three with highest placing animals selling first.
Exhibitors are responsible for getting their sheep to the sale ring and back to their pens.
All rams 10 months and older must be fertility checked within two weeks of the show and sale.
Rams younger than 10 months will be guaranteed by the breeder if the ram is kept in good
condition and are fertility tested by the buyer around a year of age.
All Ewes maintained in good condition will be guaranteed by breeders to be fertile if exposed by
the end of the calendar year. Most breeders will guarantee ewe lambs (not exposed their first
year) longer if maintained in good condition. Please confirm with breeders before you buy.
Health certificates are not required for entry, but a veterinarian will be available for buyers that
need certificates for transport.
All sheep brought to show and sale MUST sell.
Catalog with have futurity rules and entry forms, list of breeders in club, membership application,
calendar of events and anything else we need the buyers to have.

Recommended Buyer Protection Guidelines:
Ewes presented as bred should have sonogram results posted at the pen.
Ewes presented as “exposed” do not have a breeding guarantee.
Sellers should post any other guarantee or warranty terms at the pens prior to the sale.
Texas Hill Country Dorper Assn. is in no way liable nor does it guarantee animals. Warranties whether
expressed or implied are between seller and buyer.

2010-11 Texas Dorper Youth Futurity Program
Rules and Regulations
Program Objective
To encourage Texas ADSBS Junior Membership to become involved in the production and promotion of
Dorper sheep.
Consignor Rules and Regulations
1. Eligible animals consist of early spring, late spring and fall ewe lambs consigned to the Texas Hill
Country Show and Sale;
2. The entries must be purebred or fullblood Dorper or White Dorper;
3. Each entry must contain the proper identification (flock & permanent identification number) that
accurately corresponds to the registration certificate;
4. Each ewe lamb must conform and abide by the rules and regulations of the sale to which each is
consigned. All normal entry and commission fees apply;
5. All ewe lambs entered into the THCDA sale will be eligible for the futurity.
6. The Youth Committee and The THCDA will not be held responsible for any dispute and/or
disagreement between buyers and sellers;
Exhibitor Rules and Regulations
1. Forms in the THCDA Sale Catalog must be filled out and submitted with payment of futurity
ewe. The Youth Committee would like for the ewe to be designated when buyers number is
given to auctioneer, so all parties know she will be shown as a futurity ewe. A representative
may buy the futurity ewes on behalf of the exhibitor, but all paper work must be filled out sale
day. For unique situations the President of THCDA must be notified and the officers of the club
will discuss the eligibility.
2. Interested exhibitors must be a junior member of the ADSBS with yearly dues paid in full by/or
immediately following the show / sale.
3. The ADSBS recognizes a Jr. member as a member 18 years of age or younger.
4. There is no minimum age requirement. However, unless physically impaired, each exhibitor must be
capable of showing their own futurity ewe;
5. Junior members must be present to show their own ewe, unless physically impaired in which case
reasonable accommodation will be considered by the Youth Committee;
6. Ownership of the animal must be in the junior member’s name. Partnerships, farms, families, 4-H
clubs or FFA chapters are not acceptable;
7. The purchasing junior cannot be a member of the immediate family member of the consignor of the
futurity ewe. Immediate family is defined as child, grandchild, sister, brother, niece or nephew,
including step-families;
8. The exhibitor can not house their futurity ewe lambs at the breeders farm from which they purchased
the ewe lambs
9. A junior member can participate by purchasing a maximum of two (2) ewes per year. Total points
earned on two ewes can not be combined;
10. If the exhibitor has more than one ewe in the same class, another junior member may exhibit the ewe
as long as the exhibitor is showing the other futurity ewe;
11. The ewe lamb will be exhibited in her respective class in the junior show if available (if not then in the
open show). A separate futurity class will be called and all futurity ewes will be shown together to
determine futurity placing.
12. Premiums: a minimum of $750 will be awarded and divided among the top exhibitors. The guaranteed
monetary amounts are as follows: 1st place - $300; 2nd place - $200; 3rd place - $125; 4th place - $75;
5th place - $50. Plus $100 will be given to each class winners at the four major shows.
13. Point scoring:
 The ewes can gain points at all of the 2011 shows Ft Worth, San Antonio, San Angelo, Houston,
THCDA Show And Sale.
 Points from the highest of the two majors (Ft. Worth, San Antonio, San Angelo, Houston) plus the
2011 futurity class points at the THCDA Show and Sale will be added together to determine the
winner.
 Points will be given on a deicing scale. First place will get as many points as there are ewes in the
futurity class at that respective show. For example, if there are 9 futurity ewes in a class 1 st place
will get 9 points, 2nd place will get 8 points and so on down the line until 9th place would get 1 point.
 In event of a tie in points the THCDA Show and Sale placing will be used as the tie breaker.
14. Any problems or protest regarding futurity rules after the THCDA Show and Sale must be submitted in
writing to the THCDA President to be discussed and voted on by the THCDA Officers. All decisions of
the board are final.
