Definitions
Organisational formats and styles refer to accepted practices of display and design
for page layout, font selection and size, use of proportional font, text formatting, use
of lines, boxes, borders, shading, tables and columns, and margin alignment.
Conventions used must produce documents that are fit for their intended use and
meet organisational style requirements.
International trends and best practice are ascertained through review of business
and/or academic literature including – business and academic journals, commercial
white papers, conference papers and proceedings, specialist websites, business
periodicals.
Future proofing refers to – consideration of life/work-balance trends, emerging
technologies, and ensuring sustainability.

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Identify, analyse and research text processing practices and systems.
Range
practice and systems include but are not limited to – allocating work, quality of
output, standard of service, analysis of system and production problems,
identification of training needs.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Existing text processing practices and systems are identified and analysed in
terms of the current needs of an organisation.
1.2
Alternative text processing practices and systems are researched in terms of
meeting the current and future needs of an organisation in accordance with
international trends and best practice.
Outcome 2
Develop guidelines for the implementation of the text processing practices.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Guidelines for the implementation of the text processing practices are
developed to meet the identified future needs of the organisation in accordance
with international trends and best practice.
Range
2.2
includes but not limited to – training and supervision of text
processing staff, health and safety in the workplace, security,
future proofing, organisational formats and styles.
Guidelines for the implementation of systems for promoting quality of text
processing practices are developed to meet the identified future needs of the
organisation in accordance with international trends and best practice.
