Specifier Note: This product guide specification is written according to the Construction
Specifications Institute (CSI) MasterFormat, Three-Part Section Format and PageFormat, contained
in the CSI Manual of Practice. The section must be carefully reviewed and edited by the Architect to
meet the requirements of the project and local building code. Coordinate with other specification

UNIT KITCHENS
Specifier Note: This section covers Dwyer Products unit kitchens and wet bars. Custom kitchen
layouts can be designed to meet project requirements. Dwyer Products thermofoil and steel cabinets
are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified and GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified
for Children & Schools under certification number 90015, and can contribute positively toward
LEED® rating system points. Consult Dwyer Products for assistance in editing this section for
specific applications.

DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING
A. Comply with manufacturer’s ordering instructions and lead time requirements to avoid
construction delays.

Deliver, store and handle products under provisions of Section 01 60 00 and in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Field Measurements: Verify actual finished openings and plumbing and electrical
locations by field measurements before fabrication. Coordinate field measurements and
fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid construction delays. Where field
measurements cannot be made without delaying the work, establish dimensions and
proceed with fabrication without field measurements. Coordinate construction to ensure
that actual dimensions correspond to established dimensions.

WARRANTY
A. Manufacturer’s standard warranty period shall commence on Date of Delivery.
B. Manufacturer’s Warranty

With a complete steel or aluminum Dwyer kitchen, the refrigerator system and other
appliances, excluding the free-standing icemakers, shall have a five (5)-year
warranty. The owner shall be provided, at no additional charge, parts and service in
the owner’s place of business (small appliances shall be taken to appliance repair
shop or returned to factory for repair upon determination from Dwyer Products) to
repair or replace any part of the refrigeration system (the compressor, condenser,
evaporator, drier and all connecting tubing) or other appliance that fails because of a
manufacturing defect while in use in the United States for the first year; parts only
for an additional four (4)-years.
With a complete melamine or wood Dwyer kitchen, the refrigerator system and

explanation of the naming scheme for model numbers:
The first letter describes whether the configuration is Standard or Custom. (It is always S or C,
except w/ nourishment stations.)
The second (and third) letter is the series designation:

= Metro (39” – 54” with cooking)
C
= Classic (57” on up, with cooking and undercounter refrigerator)
S
= Signature (72” on up with cooking and an upright refrigerator)
AC
= ADA Classic (Any unit built to meet ADA specs, featuring an undercounter
refrigerator)

= ADA Signature (Any unit built to meet ADA specs, featuring an upright refrigerator

The letter immediately following the size designates what kind of cooking is in the configuration:

The next letter describes the upper cabinet configuration:

a. Wall cabinet boxes shall be constructed with flush bottoms, except where a

1. Aluminum Cabinet Boxes
a. Shall be constructed of .063 [1.6 mm] aluminum.
b. Aluminum shall be 5052 alloy offering superior corrosion resistance,
formability, and impact resistance. Tensile strength range 31,000 to 44,000 psi.
Conforms to Federal Specification QQ-A250/8 and ASTM B-209.
c. Cabinet boxes shall be fabricated to a maximum tolerance of 1/16" and plug
welded.
d. Wall cabinets shall be constructed with flush bottoms, except where microwave
or range hood is to be mounted underneath.

Base cabinets shall have a 4” high black thermofoil toe kick attached at the
cabinet legs. Units over 60” shall have a black steel toe joint.

h. Each hinge attachment point shall be reinforced using a threaded insert. The
rivnut insert shall be swaged into each attachment point at time of cabinet
fabrication and will provide full depth thread contact for each hinge fastener.
i. Shelves shall be reinforced with hemmed edges, and shall be fully adjustable.
j. Cabinet metal preparation shall consist of a cleaning operation that uses a twostep detergent-acid bath. After cleaning, a powder epoxy finish is applied to all
surfaces of the cabinet by an electro-static application method. Cabinet shall be
exposed to a baking process to smooth and “set” the finish.
k. Drawer guides shall be epoxy coated with nylon rollers providing a positive
