Imagine a sequel to a story Sequel and pre-sequel: “imagine a sequel” is a fairly common writing task, but in some cases you will be asked to write a prequel. Don’t forget: - time markers - adjectives and adverbs - reporting verbs for the dialogues What type of narrative is used ? - are the stories told by a first-person or third-person narrator ? - is the narrator a character ? - does the narrator know what the other characters think, what they do when he / she is not with them ? There are 4 types of narrator To imitate the style of the original texts you will have to combine description with dialogue. ( use the right register language: colloquial , standard, formal) You’ll have to stick to the author’s style and the narrator’s view around him /her. Like the author, you have to experience the events through the narrator’s eyes. You need to make some important aspects clear: - tense: use the tense from the original text - how much time has passed ? - time - place - characters involved: you are free ton introduce newcomers: a friend, a member of the family as long as they are relevant to the story. - Plot: use the text and your imagination to imagine what happens next. Don’t forget the end: make it interesting important is going to happen next. Get your reader hooked!!!!!!!!
