Dear Nu Rho Psi applicant:
Thank you for your interest in Nu Rho Psi, Emory University’s Neuroscience and
Behavioral Biology honor society! Nu Rho Psi’s mission is “…to recognize and promote
leadership, intellectual development, and scholastic achievement in the study of neuroscience and
behavior. We aim to advance the study of neuroscience within the college and increase awareness
within Emory and the surrounding community. We work to stimulate academic and professional
growth beyond the classroom through programs designed to enhance the regular curriculum and
provide rewarding experiences and fellowship through affiliation with the society.” In short, Nu
Rho Psi exists to promote meaningful engagement between students, those working in the field of
neuroscience and the greater Emory community. Three years ago, Emory Nu Rho Psi became an
official chapter of the national Nu Rho Psi organization, and now our seniors are able to wear Nu
Rho Psi cords at graduation.
Applicants to Emory Nu Rho Psi must have completed two neuroscience courses, at least
one of which is a core class in the NBB department, and have a GPA of at least 3.5 in your NBB
courses. In addition, applicants are expected to demonstrate extracurricular interest in the fields of
neuroscience and behavior and a genuine interest in participating in the activities of Nu Rho Psi.
If you have completed one NBB course and are currently enrolled in a second, you may
submit an application but we will hold it for review until such time that your grade is available and
your 3.5 NBB GPA can be verified.
Newly inducted members will pay a one-time fee of $40 for national dues, and graduating
seniors will pay an additional $10 for graduation cords. If you have any questions about these
