SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
MICROWAVE
POTENTIAL HAZARDS
* BURNS * FIRE

 Personal protective equipment:
* Heat-resistant gloves
* Lab coat
* Eye protection
 Routinely inspect integrity of all components. Do not use if damaged.
Report any damage to the contact person listed.
* Door gasket (vapours may cause deterioration, leading to radiation leakage)
* Electrical cord, Hinges, Latches
* Containers
 Do not heat hazardous chemicals. See MSDS.
 Not to be used for food preparation.
 Use containers designed for microwaves. Do not overfill.
 Do not seal containers (explosion hazard). Cotton/foam plugs may be
used to maintain sterility, or a Kimwipe to minimize splashes.
 Do not microwave objects containing metal (including stir bars).
 Keep door closed when in use. Do not stand in front of unit for
extended periods when in operation. Carefully monitor your sample.
 Allow heated liquids to stand at least one minute before opening door.
Keep container at arm’s length and pointing away from you.
 Clean after each use.
