EXPERIENCE: Essential Category A + B hospitals: i Four (4) years specialised post qualification experience in Paediatric Surgery of which a minimum of two (2) years must be at Senior Specialist level in Paediatric Surgery. ii Experience in updated methods of Paediatric Surgery including minimal invasive procedures. Desirable Publisher of original work, have participated and preferably led original research. PERSONAL QUALITIES/SKILLS: i Self-motivated and with awareness of current trends in the field. ii Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. iii Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English. JOB OUTLINE: i To exercise the highest possible standard of patient care according to his clinical privileges and available resources. ii To participate in the training and teaching programme of the hospital. No: Issue: Page: DEPARTMENT: Paediatric Surgery JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Subordinate Staff: SUR/PS/J 001 1 2 of 3 Consultant Paediatric Surgeon (only those for whom the jobholder is directly responsible) Senior Specialists, Specialists, Residents and Interns Essential Collaborative Relationships: Other medical, nursing, technical and secretarial staff DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: i Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the departmentdivision. ii Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible. iii Carries out a full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by the Director of Surgery/Head of Paediatric Surgery in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges. iv Participates in on-call duties as required by the department/division. v Teaches staff assigned for training purposes and participates with the Director of Surgery/Head of Paediatric Surgery and Director of Postgraduate and Academic Affairs in planning a programme of career development for trainees. vi Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Management Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable. vii Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education. viii Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects. ix Deputises for his superior as required and shares the workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues. x Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness. xi Participates in the department/division. xii Serves on hospital committees as requested. xiii Participates in the major disaster plan of the hospital as indicated forward planning , and further development of the ARMED FORCES HOSPITALS PROGRAMME SOUTHERN REGION, KHAMIS MUSHAYT DIRECTORATE: Surgery Job Desc.
