OPC-3 and healing reactions "Dr. Kelly Byam" Thanks for the discussion on this subject. I was one of those "know-it-all" doctor types, and when I first took OPC-3, it gave me bad headaches. I was certain it was some sort of a toxin! I even stopped taking it because the headaches frightened me. What I know now is that it was a healing reaction. When I resumed taking the OPC-3, I did get the headaches again, but they went away after a week and have never returned. Congratulations to any customer that tells you of their agitation! That means they are in tune with their body, and will actually be terrific at noting the improvements OPC will create once they get past the healing reaction. I think it is a good idea to warn people about the possibility of a Healing reaction BEFORE they start taking the product. I don't think the majority of people have healing reactions. If they do, so much the better. All that means is that they really, really need the benefits of OPC-3! Kelly Byam, D.V.M. Sacramento, CA --------------------------------------------------I went through heavy detox for several months, similar to what you are going through with joint flair-ups and more, although not quite the same symptoms. Since I had been through a year-long detox back in 1993 for previously, I was aware of the longevity of the process. This time on OPC and Garner (MA) after an advised me to either our Aloe Vera Juice. advocate of our Aloe the reactions to the the other isotonix, I was fortunate to talk with Dr. Frank all-day seminar on nutrition, disease and Isotonix/Aloe. He slow down the detox by cutting back on the Isotonix or add I opted to add the Aloe Vera Juice and have been a STRONG Vera Juice ever since. It helped me through the intensity of detox and continues to help support my health. I must admit, I did try other Aloes as I had in the past, even mixing ours with other certified organic brands, but have come back to ours EVERY time. I am now thoroughly convinced that ours is the best (or one of the best) available. Our Aloe is a necessary supplement in my daily regime along with the Isotonix. I still take 2 caps of OPC morning and most late afternoons with the others for additional support. I don't know what your health issues are or have been, but mine have been chronic and at times, debilitating. I have relied primarily on alternative care practitioners most of the past 20-25 years so I really can't put "disease" labels on what my issues are, but they have been challenging. The Isotonix and Aloe continue to support some profound "healing" that is occurring inside my body. For example, it took over 14 months for me to get any relief from endometriosis, for example. I've heard many women feel some relief in a couple months, but they may not have other challenges. Anyway, I am so grateful to Dr. Garner for suggesting adding the Aloe Vera Juice to my detox and daily routines. Hope this helps you and others. Rosalie Henry Portland, OR ================================================================================== Detoxification or Healing Crisis: What is It and What Should I Do About It? By Dr. Gary Fischbach, M.D. "A multitude of factors come to bear on each of us daily, creating billions of destructive free radical molecules. These in turn signal a chain reaction which ultimately leads to many of the degenerative processes we are all too familiar with. "When we now send 'the cavalry' antioxidants in to confront these demons, an understandable war ensues. Depending on the size of the enemy, this battle can rage for quite some time. "As well, depending on the size of the cavalry, many casualties may be released at once in the form of toxins. This detoxification or 'healing crisis' of the body is sure to be felt for a variable amount of time, and in my experience takes one of a few forms. "The following is a list of the most commonly experienced detoxification symptoms: Sinus congestion Constipation Cough Diarrhea Fatigue Fever Cold symptoms Gas Headache Irritability Moodiness Rash Itchy Skin Flu symptoms Stomachache "This conglomeration of symptoms range from mild to severe and may last from one day to a few weeks. Gradually building the doses ... will minimize the likelihood, severity, and duration of this detoxification. "... my experience has shown me that the older the individual and the more severe the medical problem(s), the more profound is the detoxification period. "If one experiences any of the above detoxification symptoms, it is actually a good sign that the compounds are working. However, one now has two choices. The first, is to maintain the recommended dosaging schedule ... and tolerate the symptoms for as long as they may last. During this time, it is important to drink a lot of water to help flush out the toxins. The other option is to back off the dose that initiated these symptoms and then build back up more slowly. Even increasing from saturation to double saturation (dose) may initiate this reaction necessitating a drop back and then slower build up. "Whichever option you choose will depend on your individual tolerance, yet keep in mind that either way, your dosage goal will eventually be achieved."
