MATH LESSON Introduction to Addition – Grade 1 Plan Rationale Time: approx. 30-40 mins. Materials: pumpkin seeds teacher created sheets for placing/gluing pumpkin seeds glue 2 boxed work pads elmo pencils independent/homework work -addition sheet p. 13 Procedures/Strategies: 1. Students will have the opportunity to view the carved pumpkin and seeds they helped scoop out and count (from previous day). We will recount seeds by 5’s and 10’s. 2. (Prompt) Students will tell the different ways and strategies we can use to help us add.
