An amateur is anyone that does not engage in any activity that makes them a professional. A professional is anyone that derives over 50% of their income from training horses, giving lessons, or receiving remuneration for showing horses. The Kiger horse shall be judged with natural, upright headset. Any Kiger with its poll below its withers shall be disqualified from placing. The appearance of the horse shall not be artificially enhanced. Artificial enhancements shall include but are not limited to, artificial tails, hair dying or coloring, body coloring or black hoof polish. KIGER-CLASSES- limited to KMA and SMKR registered purebred Kigers only. Owners/Exhibitors MUST provide copies of KMA or SMKR If registration is pending and not registered yet, must have a temporary registration certificate completed and signed by Registrar. Horses showing in KIGER CLASSES must be owned by KMA member in good standing. JR. RIDER - 17 & under SR. RIDER – 18 & over AMATEUR RIDER – Anyone that does not derive over 50% of their income from training horses, giving lessons, or receiving remuneration for showing horses. GREEN HORSE – any age horse not to have been showing prior to 1/1/04 in that division. OPEN – open to any breed of horse. Senior Horse Classes, as defined by KMA Show and Contest Rules and Regulations is “Senior horses are six (6) years old and older, except for adopted horses as provided for under junior horse.” Junior Horse Classes, as defined by KMA Show and Contest Rules and Regulations is “Junior horses are five (5) years old and younger or adopted from the wild within the last three years. Junior horses may be shown in performance classes with bit, bosal, or snaffle bit. Junior horses that are shown with a bosal or snaffle bit must be ridden with two (2) hands on the reins. No horse shall be ridden in any performance class prior to its two-year-old year.” MUSTANG classes-Open to KMA Half-Kigers, SMKR Half-Kigers, AIHR, Sulphur, Sorraia, and all other mustangs. .Owners/Exhibitors MUST provide copies of documentation including freeze brand information, registration in recognized Mustang registry, or documentation signed by vet or BLM official. NO CROSS ENTRY BETWEEN KIGER and MUSTANG CLASSES. classes. DUN FACTOR classes for Kigers ONLY. NO CROSS ENTRY between Trail in Hand and under saddle trail STICK HORSE – To be judged on showmanship and originality. KIGER HALTER CLASSES will be judged according to conformation outlined in the Standard of Perfection. Horses are to be shown with a halter. Silver show halters shall not be judged over plain halters. Stallions shall be handled with a halter and a stud chain at all times. Exhibitor will not be penalized for touching or moving the animal. Kicking or whipping the horse is prohibited. Whips are prohibited in all halter classes. Exhibitors in halter classes may wear either English or Western attire, appropriate tack to the exhibitor’s dress. KMA RULES APPLY See Show and Contest Rules and Regulations for details. NO CLASS SUBSTITUTIONS OR CHANGES OF ANY KIND WILL BE ALLOWED. No abuse or inhumane treatment will be tolerated. Limited schooling is allowed; however schooling that disrupts the class will result in dismissal. This is not a schooling show – See English Attire and Western Attire below. STALLIONS. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to ride or handle stallions anywhere. Unless being handled with a bridle, all stallions shall be handled with a halter and a stud chain at all times. ALL CHILDREN 17 AND UNDER MUST WEAR A HELMET EXCEPT IN HALTER CLASSES ENGLISH ATTIRE. Appropriate attire for style of riding; Hunt Seat attire, or Dressage attire or, Saddle Seat attire. WESTERN ATTIRE. Exhibitors are required to wear long-sleeved shirts with collar of the western type, western hats, (helmets for youth), belts, and boots with a heel in western performance classes. The use of spurs, chaps, chinks, or similar gear is optional. STALLION SHOWCASE & SALE HORSES. Stallion Showcase exhibitors please prepare a 5 minute presentation that will be submitted with your pre-entry form. All sale horses must be entered as Sale Horses. Stallion showcase and sale horse presentations are pre-entry only. All out of state horses, including Sale horses must have copies of health inspection and brand inspection by certified veterinarian and/or brand inspector required by the state of residence. REFUNDS BY VET CERTIFICATION ONLY. Any aggressive or unsafe behavior by any horse will result in immediate dismissal from the show fairgrounds and management reserves any right to dismiss any exhibitor at their discretion. All exhibitors must follow judges directions and the Judge’s decisions are final. The Show Committee (Chair) shall have the sole and exclusive right to enforce all rules referring to the show and the show officials are the final decision-makers on any controversy and their rulings are final. Any grievance must be submitted in writing with a $50.00 deposit to the Show Chairman/Committee for review. Negative decisions results in forfeiture of deposit.
