Day 1: Read Ether 15
1. Describe the repentance of Coriantumr and how he came to believe the words of Ether.
2. Compare how you feel about Coriantumr versus Shiz. How are they different? Do you feel
sorry for either one?
3. PERSONAL: Have you ever had to go through hard times before realizing the ways of the
Lord are best? Explain.

a) For four years the armies and people of Coriantumr gathered to the hill Ramah. What
else does Moroni tell us happened at this same hill? Cite verse.
b) Read Mormon 6:2-6. (see scripture list) What is another name for the hill Ramah?
5. Why were the two appeals by Coriantumr to stop the war not accepted? Describe what happened.
6. What do Ether’s last written words show about his character and mission?
7. PONDER: If you were a liar trying to convince people that your fraudulent book was an actual
history of real people, would you put into it the story of the death of Shiz?
Day 2: Take a last look at Ether
8. Mormon and Moroni know of two great societies destroyed in their lands: the Nephites and
the Jaradites. They also read of the break up of Lehi’s family. In what ways are the declines of
nations similar to the declines of families?
9. What can individuals do to strengthen the values of the nations they live in?
10. In what ways are we blessed to have these plates abridged by editors who were prophets?

helped you?
Day 3: Read Moroni 1-6

12. What did Moroni have in common with the prophet Ether?
13. Read D&C 101:5 and Matthew 10:33. Why do you think it is so serious to deny the Christ?
14. What editorial decision does Moroni make at this point in his record keeping? Why? Cite
verse.
15. The account of the Savior choosing 12 disciples and giving them the power to baptize is told
in 3 Nephi 11, and 3 Nephi 12. Though this account says that after baptism, “[the Father] will
visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost,” no mention is made of an earthly process for giving
the gift of the Holy Ghost.
a) What does Moroni do about this omission? Why, do you think?
16. Moroni 3. By what power are teachers and priests ordained? Cite verse.
17. What does it mean to you that the prayer on the sacrament bread and wine given by Moroni,
are word for word exactly the same as that given in our dispensation in D&C 20:77, 79?
Day 4: Read Moroni 6
18. Moroni says that those who wished to be baptized had to “bring forth fruit meet that they
were worthy of it.” Look in the topical guide under “Baptism, Qualifications For.” From these
scriptures and from Moroni 6:1-3, pick out at least four things you think the scriptures say are
necessary before baptism. You may find more.
19. a) Number and name all the things listed in verse 4 that were done for new converts after
their baptism.

b) What can you do to help make this happen for new members?
c) Do you think newly baptized 8 year olds need these same things? Explain.

b) PERSONAL: Have you had an experience where you had to (or chose to) miss one or
more sacrament meetings. What did you experience from this and what did you learn from it?

a) What happened to church members who committed iniquity?
b) How was love shown to those who were “blotted out”?
22. What were some differences between their world and our world and how would these things
have made a difference in how the church was administered and run? (For ex, how different
would it be to give a talk with no church magazines, no computer and no pen and pencil. Most
people probably couldn’t even read or write!)
23. Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-7.
a) What never changes in the administration of the gospel in the Church of Christ?
b) What then, are some things that would be the same between the church in our day and
the church in Moroni’s day and time?
24. Was there anything in the reading of this lesson that was new to you and which you think
will be useful for your own life?

3 And it came to pass that the king of the Lamanites did grant unto me the thing which I
desired.
4 And it came to pass that we did march forth to the land of Cumorah, and we did pitch
our tents round about the hill Cumorah; and it was in a land of many waters, rivers, and
fountains; and here we had hope to gain advantage over the Lamanites.
5 And *when three hundred and eighty and four years had passed away, we had gathered
in all the remainder of our people unto the land of Cumorah.
6 And it came to pass that when we had gathered in all our people in one to the land of
Cumorah, behold I, Mormon, began to be old; and knowing it to be the last struggle of my
people, and having been commanded of the Lord that I should not suffer the records
which had been handed down by our fathers, which were sacred, to fall into the hands of
the Lamanites, (for the Lamanites would destroy them) therefore I made this record out
of the plates of Nephi, and hid up in the hill Cumorah all the records which had been entrusted to me by the hand of the Lord, save it were these few plates which I gave unto my
son Moroni.
