Present your research grant proposal following the outline below. The complete proposal should not exceed ten (10) double-spaced pages, including narrative, curriculum vita, and budget.

I. The proposal narrative is a description of the research project including anticipated outcomes.

(Recommended length is 3 pages.) It should include the following: a. The significance of the research to the humanities in Colorado. b. The major lines of investigation to be developed in the course of the research. c. The institutions and/or sources to be consulted. d. A research plan. e. The intended product of the research (book, article, etc.).

II. Attach a current vita of no more than 3 pages.

III. Budget

Colorado Humanities grants are awarded on a cost-share basis. Applicants must show cash or in-kind contributions that equal or exceed the grant request. In-kind contributions may include services, supplies, or facilities donated to the project. Either the sponsoring organization or other sources may provide other cash.

Please use the Colorado Humanities budget form provided. If matching cash is provided by a third party source (not the research or sponsoring organization), contact the Colorado Humanities staff for additional information.

Certifications

1. Certification Regarding the Nondiscrimination

Statutes (Applies to Recipients Other than

Individuals)

The applicant certifies that it will comply with the following nondiscrimination statutes and their implementing regulations: (a) Title VI of the Civil

Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000d et seq.) which provides that no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which the applicant received federal financial assistance; (b) Section 504 of the Rehabilitation

Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. 794), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of handicap in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance; (c) Title IX of the Education

Amendments of 1972, as amended (20 U.S.C.

1681 et seq.) which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance; and (d) the

Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended (42

U.S.C. 6101 et seq.) which prohibits discrimination on the basis of age in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance, except that actions which reasonably take age into account as a factor necessary for the normal operation or achievement of any statutory objective of the project or activity shall not violate this statute.

2. Certification Regarding Debarment and

Suspension (45 CFR 1169)

The prospective primary participant (applicant) certifies to the best of its knowledge and belief that it and its principals: (a) are not presently debarred, suspended, proposed for debarment, declared ineligible, or voluntarily excluded from covered transactions by any federal department or agency; (b) have not within a three-year period preceding this proposal been convicted of or had a civil judgment rendered against them for commission of fraud or a criminal offense in connection with obtaining, attempting to obtain, or performing a public (federal, state, or local) transaction or contract under a public transaction; violation of federal antitrust statues or commission of embezzlement, theft, forgery, bribery, falsification or destruction of records, making false statements, or receiving stolen property; (c) are not presently indicted for or otherwise criminally or civilly charged by a governmental entity (federal, state, or local) with commission of any other the offenses enumerated in section (b) of this certification; and (d) have not within a three-year period preceding this application/proposal had one or more public transactions (federal, state, or local) terminated for cause or default.

Also the undersigned certify their compliance with the rules and regulations regarding nondiscrimination statutes, and debarment and suspension, as indicated above.
