Whilst there are loads of excellent duet books I wanted to keep the number of books to a
minimum because of the obvious cost, and also to what is easily available. Apart from the pieces
chosen from the books they all have other excellent pieces in them that I am sure your students
will enjoy.

Grading is very approximate, if what you see on one list does not suite your student look at one
above or below. We also need duettists to play secondo as well as primo and the repertoire has
been selected to give both pianists something interesting to learn. If you are unsure chose
something your student will find straight forward, having to listen to another pianist brings
another dimension to performing the music. Don’t worry if you cannot provide pianists for both
parts of a duet, this is the mix and match element and hopefully another student will have learnt
the other part. If not, then I or another teacher will play it.
Please arrive for the rehearsal really well prepared, having practised the duet with yourselves or
another student. The rehearsal will only give an opportunity for a run through so all notes will
need to be very well known for the duet to be enjoyable for the children. Also don’t feel each
child can play only one piece, learn several if you like.
Cost is £5.00 per student and £2.00 for parents, refreshments will be provided. I am looking
forward to meeting you and your pupils and I’m sure we will have a fun afternoon!
