Architectural Competition
Szczecin Philharmonic Hall
The Municipality of Szczecin is inviting architects and architectural practices to take part in an exciting
single-stage architectural competition to create a concept of a new Philharmonic Hall in the City of
Szczecin, Poland.
The Hall is to be located in the City of Szczecin at 48 Małopolska Street, on plot No3/11, with an
estimated usable floor area is approx. 11.000 sqm and the entries should also address the shaping
and landscaping of the site. A detailed programme of functions is included in the Competition Rules.
The winner will receive a financial award of 40.000 PLN and will be invited for negotiations leading to
a commission for a technical design of the Philharmonic Hall. The second prize will be 35.000 PLN,
the third 25.000 PLN, and five more entries may receive commendations amounting to 10.000 PLN
each.

The Competition is open for physical persons, legal persons and entities without legal personality or
configurations of these, according to the Law on Public Procurement. It is expected, that the
participating teams will comprise person(s) having appropriate license for design adequate for the
subject of the Competition, and will be able to demonstrate that in the last 3 years have realised at
least 2 projects concerning public buildings.
The entries will be evaluated and judged according to the following criteria:
a/ relating the new Philharmonic Hall with the existing neighbouring developments,
b/ functional qualities,
c/ aesthetic and spatial qualities,
d/ structural and material qualities of the solution, including the aspect of construction,
e/ site development
f/ total cost of development.

Till 27th November, 2006, requests for Qualification should be delivered to SARP
O/Szczecin, 70-551 Szczecin, Plac Żołnierza Polskiego 2.
Before 11th December, 2006 Qualification results will be announced and invitations to
participate sent to the qualified.
Questions relating to the Competition may be delivered to the office of SARP till
22nd January, 2007, and Answers to Questions will be formulated and presented not later
than 5th February, 2007.
Competition Entries must reach the office of SARP not later than 1 PM on 28th May, 2007.
The Results of the Competition will be officially announced on 20th June, 2007 at 2 PM, in the Council
Room at the Municipal Office in Szczecin, Pl. Armii Krajowej 1.
