Gulf Coast Institute Livable Houston Network 2035 Regional Transportation Plan Study Group How to Comment on Regional Transportation Plan Updated June 7, 2007 The draft 2035 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is now available from the Houston-Galveston Area Council for public comment. The public comment period will last until July 2, 2007. The following is a list of links and persons to whom letters should be written relating to regionally significant transportation projects. The Spring 2007 Vision newsletter contains a brief but very informative article explaining the Regional Transportation Plan vision and goals. This document is available from H-GAC here as a pdf: http://tinyurl.com/2plv9s In general, comments can be addressed to Alan Clark at the following address: Alan Clark MPO Director H-GAC 3555 Timmons Lane
Suite 120 Houston, TX 77027 Alan.clark@h-gac.com 713-627-3200 The Transportation Policy Council is very important and should receive input from a wide range of citizens about the RTP as well as Harris County Toll Road Authority’s expansion plans. If you know any of these members personally or they are your representatives, please try to explain your concerns about the 2035 RTP. These representatives should hear not only about the projects that negatively affect your neighborhood or issue, but also those parts of the RTP that you see as positive. The TPC roster is available at the following address, which does not contain mailing addresses. Those can be found at the end of this document: http://tinyurl.com/39pcx3 For these and all of the contacts you are making, sending a copy to the press is also useful. Here are the Houston Chronicle instructions: Send letters to the editor, 250 words or less, as part of e-mail text to viewpoints@chron.com. Include name, address, and day and evening phone numbers for verification purposes only. Letters subject to editing. Contact information for the River Oaks, Bellaire, West University, and Memorial Examiners can be found here: http://examinernews.com. The Harris County Commissioners and Judge have direct influence over HCTRA and a central role in the development of our regional transportation strategy, so it is important that these elected officials know the views of their citizens as well. If you need to identify which commissioner represents you that can be found at the following address by putting in your home address, clicking search, then clicking info: http://www.tax.co.harris.tx.us/streetguide/frameset.asp Hon.
